::Raises Hand :: I'm the guy guilty of going Recon...I feel so ashamed. Maybe I should look into some of those assault unlocks so I can start contributing to my squaddies.

Re: Going Support? Consider Medic

I almost excuslivly play Assualt in 2142 becaue of the combination of the medic into it.

The only things that really contribute to the squad is the defib and medic hub though, which is like just the first 2 two unlocks if that because all the medic hub unlock does is make it where you can heal people while your in a vehicle as well.

Well, I'm guilty of not paying attention to what's in the squad. I tend to play the kit I'm working at unlocking. Like I completely unlocked Support, the left tree of Assault. Now I'm working on the Left tree of Engineer.

I don't get it. You don't need to play the actual kit to unlock that kits tree.

I know that, but why unlock somthing that you have a hard time playing? This way I get practice with the kit and improve the kit at the same time. Just a personal training tool I use.

Don't rule out that recon! yes you only need one in your squad but if a recon is played the way a recon should be played then it will help your squad and entire team.

When I play recon we are usally on the defencive. My frist trick is to place out RDX around the flag. This is the last resort if the squad fails and littered with enemy troops. this buys enough time for 2 things, me to pick off the last one or for time for my squad to respawn.

Next job is get to a high point and TELL your squad what you see. perfect example: I was recon on verduin at hill side. troops are comming from every corner. I was a mini UAV with spotting. 2nd, my SL was in a walker taking out troops on the east road. One was a engineer, I reported that he was laying motion mines slightly to his south. Right away he moved north and mowed the engineer down with no damage. 3rd, The squad did fall. I blew the RDX and killed 3 troops with one running like a smacktart. Squad spawned in with a perfectly raised flag and continued to hold it.

i wasn't ruling out recons. i was ruling out two or more recons. i like having a recon in my squad for the netbat/otus benefits as well as it can be really helpful to have some APMs to slow the obvious assault routes.

Re: Going Support? Consider Medic

It seems like BF2142 was made so more people are Assault and should be assault in a group. With a few other so the normal balanced squad has 3 assaults 1 recon 1 support and 1 engineer.

But I suck at being assault so I go Support or recon most of the time. I don't have enough unlocks to make the engineer effective yet.

Re: Going Support? Consider Medic

that's undestandable, and i used to feel this way too, but i think after some practice that assault becomes easier and easier to play. Being assault is all about taking in lots of information and quickly deciding what to do. The more you play assault, the easier these decisions become.

But if you've got the Recon netbat helmet and your SL has the Otus drone, then go recon BY ALL MEANS. It'll aid very much in helping the assaults and support keep their wits about them.
