Re: Light armor vs heavy armor?
Heavy Armor gives 20% Protection while Light Armor gives 10% Protection.
On explosives like Rockets and Grenades there is no difference in Protection.

Really? I'm going to have to try light armour some. it's just that I can't count how many times I come out of a firefight with 5 or 6 health points.

Re: Light armor vs heavy armor?
So after a few games with no heavy armor i have to say its not as bad as i thought it would be. I was able with the recon kit to get behind enemy lines much faster. As a squad leader i called in some UAV support easily found some enemy and was able to sneak up on them using cloak, knife a few and shoot some others. I was also able to sneak up and kill a commander, which is something i've never done. Now i'm not saying this was all due to my wearing light armor, but my knowing i was weaker than other players it forced me to think much more tactically. I'll continue with my analysis and keep you updated.

#3 no contest, welcome to the world of fast sprinting and retreating! Recon = light armor for me anyhow

Re: Light armor vs heavy armor?
no matter how much sprint I have, I end up using it all up immidiatly upon spawning, then I just sprint walk the whole round. I guess im sort of used to it.
the ns boots unlock is pretty sweet though. perhaps I will give it a shot again. I remember trying light armor for a week and coming away from that thinking, bleh it is not worth it. I play medic all most of the time, and me being alive is fairly critical, but so isnt speed.
meh, tradeoffs.

Re: Light vs Heavy Armor
As support or assault I always use heavy armor, reason should be obvious. I only wear light armor when I either play engi or infiltrator recon. Engi is either sitting in a armoured vehicle or facing enemy armor on foot, where it is quite usefull if you can sprint long enough around a tank to place that shot into his rear. And countersniping against zeller users with only light armor is a bad idea, regardless of the actual efficency of zeller vs LA. Light armor + cloaking works wonders if you can penetrate the enemy lines and move into their hinterland, in any other scenario besides engi I would never switch to light armor.

Re: Light vs Heavy Armor
My play style, as squad leader or member, almost always involves blundering into the enemy, so I go with heavy armor for just about everything except as an engineer. I shouldn't be fighting infantry with my suck-machine gun, anyways.

Re: Light vs Heavy Armor
its great when you get the clip expansion for it. Its actually quite useful in CQC situations.

Even without the clip expansion, it just mows people down in CQC. I find I have to remind myself to use larger bursts than with an AR.

Re: Light vs Heavy Armor
I choose Heavy Armor for the same reasons why real soldiers wear it while going into combat.
Action ALWAYS beats reaction.
And if you are reacting to someone, chances are they have the +1 up on you with the element of surprise, so that extra armor to help protect you really counts.
Granted there is no one RIGHT way, but with most situations heavy armor is needed.

Re: Light vs Heavy Armor
99% of the time I am using heavy armor. The only time I use light armor is when I need to get somewhere far while cloaked. I think heavy armor is the better choice in most situations because you can either "fight or flight" and in a videogame by the time you take "flight" you will most likely be shot dead.
