Re: Light vs Heavy Armor

I personally prefer the heavy armor, even though the light armor would allow me to rush out and revive everyone after an attack. because the way i see it heavy armor is the reason i'm not the one needing reviving in the first place

Oh and i play with assult ALOT

Does light armor make you run faster? I thought it just reduced your stamina drain and increased regeneration, thus allowing you to sprint for longer.

Re: Light vs Heavy Armor

No light armor does not make you run faster, it just gives you longer sprint capacity.
And in answer to the original poster: personally I prefer heavy armor when playing every class except for recon. I use light armor if I need to camo sprint somewhere and don't want to run out of stamina.

In that case, I never wear light armor unless I'm a squad leader trying to make a camo-run to a flag behind their lines.

Exactly. That's the only reason when I equip light armor.

Re: Light vs Heavy Armor

I always wear light armor for that extra bit of run to keep up with the squad leader (since I'm generally the squad medic). Generally, in a 1vs1 situation, I'm the victor, whether it's against light or heavy armor.
But, when i'm trying to keep everyone alive, I find that perhaps if i had slightly more HP or armor, I may be able to stay alive those crucial moments to get the leader up so he can make his escape.

I'll try it out and see if I notice a difference in combat situations. I don't think there will be much of a difference because on the TG server almost all shots fired are aimed at the head. But heavy armor would help against those stray auto turret rounds.

Re: Light vs Heavy Armor

The only difference I notice is that Voss' kill me faster and Zellers kill me faster. Although the Zeller one hit kill on light armour supposable not true, I seem to die fast from it.

Re: Light vs Heavy Armor

oh its true....i know this because when i hit people just as they spawn, i know theyre at 100% health, and they go down in one hit. For this reason, i always wear heavy when im sniping.

I always wear light armor, and whenever I get hit by a zeller, it is either a headshot, or i have 10 hp left.

Re: Light vs Heavy Armor

Out of the 6000+ kills I have with the Zeller, not one was single shot to the body on a player with full health. That's as far as my knowledge goes.

Re: Light vs Heavy Armor

I've always used light armor. I never really noticed too much of a difference when being hit by the enemy. The helmets do nothing either way and I only aim at the head. Therefore I kill HA and LA in the same amount of time. Even with the sprint unlocks, you still move noticably slower, also unless it's just me and probably is, you crouch and prone slightly slower in heavy armor. But when you have multiple people shooting at you, they will kill you just the same, I find running away fast the best option!

One big plus to light armor is, if your the EU, you look sort of like the PAC, and the trick to BF is getting a jump on the enemy.

Re: Light vs Heavy Armor

I'm gonna play for a day or so on a different soldier with light armor only and see how much of a difference it really makes. I used light today for a bit doing Recon Stealth runs, and seemed like you didn't take all that much extra damage.

Re: Light vs Heavy Armor

The only time I will not wear heavy armor is when I'm just messing around with the knife. I'll be in camo and running around alot chasing after people and laying down apms. Even when playing as a sniper I'll have heavy armor. If someone spots me that extra armor can provide a bit of extra time to get cover and pop on my camo.

Re: heavy or light body armor?

Heavy Armour doesn't give you that much protection compared to light. Actually, heavy armour only affects your torso. So you get maybe get approximately 3-5 HP protection per shot (depending on the gun).
