Heavy armor will protect you from knifes, AP mines, orbitals, and almost EVERYTHING ELSE! unlike anything else you've ever seen. NOT. For the record I almost never use heavy body armor. Ever. lol
I always use light armor for all of my class choices. Mainly because I seem to die more often when I wear heavy armor, and most of the time if a sniper sees a guy running around in the 10 lbs of steel and kevlar they tend to aim for the head when you stop sprinting or moving. that and the heavy stuff can't stop a barrage of APC grenades or those rifle rockets or any other high-explosive killing tool. that and I never make it to cover when I'm wearing heavy armor.
-not to mention the orange should pad the EU heavy armor has (when I'm trying to snipe its like a shoot me sign sitting on my shoulder).
300 to 1? No problem. Might need more bullets though...
Please continue using heavy armor, it really protects your chest very well.
Yea, so that sniper sitting in the corner can blow your brains out while your out of breath.
Don't worry about the APC shooting at you, the MG is 'harmless' and the grenades won't hurt you... much.
Yea right, heavy armor is a death trap I really don't see why anyone would want to use it.

- Light Armor doubles your Sprint distance AND your Sprint recovery.
- Heavy Armor is only your chest! Legs Arms Head and your Butt arent affected by Heavy Armor.
- KABOOM - Explosions and Mortars and other means things do not really care about your armor
When to use Heavy Armor:
- A clan match or scrim with a low people count. Two high skilled players waiting for each other around the corner - both knowing each others positions. This duel might be decided by Heavy Armor
I play recon a lot so it only makes sense to use light armor. However in close condensed fights I will switch to heavy. I believe it just deals with the situation. If i'm going on defense at a cap I will certainly use heavy. If im capping with a squad then I'll use light.
As someone who used to SL a lot, I almost always used heavy armor unless I was an engineer or needed to do a ninja squad bomb. Obviously, as engineer, your primary targets have armament that ignore armor, so no point in heavy armor, and squad bombing requires mobility as well.
As SL, you must stay alive, and every bit of survivability counts (which is why I also preferred medic as SL, but that's not the point of this thread). There's the argument that being more mobile will serve an SL better, but I found that if I planned my routes ahead of time, I rarely needed more than a full sprint bar with heavy armor. Once you're on a flag, light armor certainly doesn't help in those critical moments when the mini-map is swarming with red, and there's no way to avoid incoming fire.
The squad's members, though, should go with whatever armor best suits their situation.

Reason: Automated ribbons don't like to be centered.
The average player hits the chest when firing on the enemy because it is the biggest target on the body. I am partial to keeping my chest intact. This is why I wear heavy armor the majority of the time. So heavy gets my vote.
I found that the maneuverability gained with light armor can be much more crucial than the extra protection of heavy armor. Those couple of seconds needed to sprint behind cover far outweigh the few evenly matched close quarters encounters I happen upon on the battlefield. The only kit I tend to use heavy armor with is Support, since I’m usually just lunking ammo behind the squad or laying down covering fire and do not need the speed and grace of a gazelle. While skeptical that I would find myself counting down respawn timers much more often with light armor, it ended up being a key switch toward improving my survivability.
As a Squad Leader, I always wear light armor, since most of the time I am running scared like a little girl and trying to hide from the bad men gunning for me.
I mainly use heavy armor when I play with assault or support (which I found out how much I love last night-thanks Grimmfist), because you're mainly getting shot at close up and personal. While, yes, it only gives you increased protection from chest shots, I find that the chest is the most hit body part in the game. As an sniper, I find that when I snipe I automatically go for the chest, because it's the largest target, and when people are usually in firefights that get them weak, and moving, its BAM! One shot to the chest and one less ticket for their team. So that extra bit of protection does count.
And it protects you from a few knife hits. Which can count.
No, I don't.
Anyhoo, I found that I prefer using light armor on wide open maps (vehicle maps), ONLY when using recon and engy. After all, whatever armor you're wearing doesn't matter when there's a tank up your arse. Only how fast you can run from it.

Actually does nothing vs. knife. Knife's a 1 hit kill. Sometimes a knife strike will make a noise, the person will visibly react, but no damage and no kill.
Bravo Microsoft, you have now surpassed EA in poor decisions and once and for all seized the crown for the worst 'Reveal' ever. That EA were standing there on the stage with you when you did it was...

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
