Re: Assaulting Camp Gibraltar: Breaching The Lines!
On an oddly related note:
CO EMP strikes will clear all deployed mines.
Just call for a strike before the rush and GG engineers. My sanity is not in question...
It was a confirmed casualty some time ago.
Light, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I had to kill because they ticked me off.

Re: Assaulting Camp Gibraltar: Breaching The Lines!
So has anyone ever tried using a sniper unlock and a buggy in-waiting to get past the poll? A sniper should be able to clear one path of the toll in about 15-20s which might be fast enough for someone to notice the disappearing mines allowing the buggy to race past.

Re: Assaulting Camp Gibraltar: Breaching The Lines!
This is just a theory but it may work:
Jeep 1: Squad 1, medics, Jeep 2: Squad 2, medics.
Take both jeeps (this requires massive coordination from the commander) and wait just outside of toll station. Commander lets loose the EMP and Air strikes on Toll Station. Rush past Toll during the mayhem that ensues and drive both jeeps into the little alcove to the west of Central Camp before the walker comes.
This does spend two important resources but if it works, half of your team on a 50 man server is behind enemy lines. With some luck, a newb will be driving the walker and keep on driving it to Harbour.
Somehow, I get the feeling that this too would not work. I've played more than my fair share of Gibraltar but I've yet to see any "oh this sounds like a good idea and it's worked on pubs before" work on the TG server.
Jeep rushes usually face 30 motion mines, 8 pillums and a lot of |TG-xx| at the gate 'twixt Toll and Central.
Something else to try: (I think this has been mentioned already)
Have three SL in the three jeeps, drive them to the trains cars to the east of Harbour, just before the Toll Station gates. Each of the SL places their beacons behind the cars, all engies move in quickly and mine both exits to the toll station. With luck, this'll take out the defenders' walker. Once their walker is destroyed (should be fairly quickly if their walker pilot is quick and witless), take the three squads and break with brute force into and past toll station.
Now that I think about it, two squads would be better here because the other two squads are needed to mount an effective fake assault on Harbour.
Eh, too much strategizing. What'll probably happen, as it has on every Camp G I've played on the TG server is a meatgrind stalemate in the toll station. It takes far less coordination to defend on Camp Gibraltar than it does to attack it, no?Fight!

Re: Assaulting Camp Gibraltar: Breaching The Lines!
I've found this works incredibly well, even on TG server. Setup as a sniper on the East side of Toll, behind this one train where you can peer down the aisle and just kill everything. Eventually you'll either attract their attention to come out, or they'll be too busy keeping their heads down and your squad can push up. Granted, the East side isn't as favorable as the West, you can still probably get a squad to push a good ways in.

Re: Assaulting Camp Gibraltar: Breaching The Lines!
As a twist on Zhohar's tactic, you could just as easily have one person volunteer for a "risky" mission. If you manage to do it right with two FAVs following in very close proximity, you'll probably only lose one to motion mines, and once it takes them out, the second one just slips on past.
However, I'm still a big fan of the "drive the FAV backwards and spam bait as you drive through" tactic.

Re: Assaulting Camp Gibraltar: Breaching The Lines!
I have broke it wide open several times by doing the following. this is beyond theory, it works.
once the stalemate is in effect: sl waiting in buggy near harbor orders engy with mine bait to advance to toll and clear up west lane so they get a straight shot through to central camp. the engy spams some mine bait, gives the all clear, then the sl goes through with buggy and has rest of squad spawn on him.
even if your squad is not doing it, just spam some bait if no one else is. you get kills from exploding mines. I have taken down a few walkers this way now too.

I second what Science said, that is now my tactic of choice when attacking Camp G. I look forward to being on offense on that map because its such a fun strategy to use.

ah planetside. i beta tested that and thought it was kind of cool, but in the end it felt kind of pointless.

Re: Assaulting Camp Gibraltar: Breaching The Lines!
The rate of fire and small magazine size makes it hard to destroy them fast enough on your own (if an Engie is actively replacing them). Smarter Engineers will hide their mines behind objects or place them far enough in the rear that the enemy sniper can't see them.
Clearing those mines does really help the Walker move up though. Once the Walkers in there it can push back enemy infantry and make it much easier to capture the flag.

Re: Assaulting Camp Gibraltar: Breaching The Lines!
Commander throwing EMP onto Toll Defenders on the left or right side - then having a cloaked Recon Ghost SL run through.
Cloaked people are unable to be seen whe nbeeing under EMP effect really.

Good call, only real way to find 'em would be the annoying noise they make.
