Please deploy the Otus!
I am thankful for every experienced member who takes up the reins of SL, and does his or her best.
I am begging every one of you to deploy your snooper drones as soon as tactically prudent. Nothing is more disheartening that being in a GREAT squad but being continually SURPRISED or maybe even knifed, because the OTUS is not flying.
I'll even gladly play Recon in a squad, even tho I have NO unlocks (except Field unlock for Recon Netbat helm) in that kit, just to help the Otus do it's job.

Re: Please deploy the Otus!
Slightly releated - if you are a SM do STILL equip a Squadleader item! Often Kits may get changed up and all of a sudden your SL might stand around with no tools in his kit.
So if you have them put in a Beacon or Otus Drone!

Re: Please deploy the Otus!
Seconded...getting a revive and experiencing "Kit Swap" is sometimes frustrating...but even moreso if there's no SL tools.
Sometimes, it can be really cool though...if you just deployed your beacon, get whacked, and end up being revived with the OTUS, it's like a blessing from heaven.|TG-9th| Prophaniti

Re: Please deploy the Otus!
I use the Otus drone about 70% of the time now when I'm squad leading. I find it's extremely effective and I'll only use the squad beacon when I'm encountering an entrenched defence and I can't afford to die and have the assault fail while I make it back to the front line.
Great point about equipping a Squad Leader item even when you're only a member! I always equip one out of habit and I usually play medic so I don't need to kit-swap to reive SL. But I never even thought of that aspect. Everyone listen to Lyramion!

Re: Please deploy the Otus!
Ditto - I always have my SL gear equipped, because when you least expect it .. your SL drops out and suddenly you are SL.
"Uh oh .. SL is linkdead, guys ... looks like I'm it. And guess what .. OTUS DEPLOYED ~~ LOLLERCOASTER!"

Re: Please deploy the Otus!
one thing that is kind of unique to the TG sever is the number of otus drones deployed. the approach of many squads is much more bf2 like than your standard pub beacon lovers.
there is a drawback to this howver. in bf2, standard practice is to kill the sl then take out the medics. you had to kind of figure out who the sl was. with a drone, its a giant neon sign that says kill me first then throw a nade on my body. it seems i see more drones every day, if you are a sl and have a drone, you better know how to lead a squad that depends on you as their spawn point.
i see some sl on point with drone and i know their squad is about to become very frustrated.

Re: Please deploy the Otus!
Remember that the diamonds shown on your HUD can be only a snapshots now and not a real time indicator of where the enemy is. I see people firing at areas where there's a diamond now, but it's obvious the enemy is not there anymore.

Re: Please deploy the Otus!
For the SL who NEEDS to have his squad know what's in their vicinity:
-most if not all SM's need to have the netbat helmet
-SL is support with clark shotgun tree unlocked THROUGH the pulse meter, should have at least one medic AND one recon in squad, both with adv. netbat, and one more support and medic in case SL loses kit
-SL w/ otus drone and SM's also have Otus drones in case SL loses kit or needs to pick up one of theirs.
The pulse meter + otus drone with support (reveals cloaked enemies), recon (delayed netbat fade and otus addition of showing all contacts on the 3d map and mini-map), and assault (reveals infantry kits on contacts) PLUS the pulse meter (reveals all in general vicinity) will effectively show your squad ALL that is around and above them.
I used this on a pubbie titan server when the unlock weekend started and had a few team-play minded SM's. We were defending the titan and the otus + pulse meter combo with their kits showed us SO MUCH. My SM's were very thankful since we saw all the hidden guys in the vents, and enemies out on the lower aft deck and which way they were coming, etc.
With just a pubbie squad, we held off the assaulting force long enough for our side to destroy the enemy titan before ours was destroyed. And these were with guys I'd never played with before. The tools I had available to me as SL to allow them to see were invaluable to our success.|TG-Irr|Hiram_Yorik
