how do you practice aiming?
when in a game, i simply rely on my training and dont think about it. but in most games, i have had methods i used to train my aim. focusing on different aspects of the act of shooting etc. this is allways at the expense of teamwork etc and was done during clan practice or random pubbing.
anyone have tips for aimtraining they use in bf2142?
for example, i will go to some random pub and practice single shot firing on moving targets or strafeshooting while crouched. also, i will practice wall shooting while moving and try to get the tightest spread i can under different conditions and positions.

Re: how do you practice aiming?
I've never actually thought of doing this before, but heck I do it for snooker, why not BF2142? I might try some single player games first.

Re: how do you practice aiming?
I practice aiming by playing recon/sniper, and also by doing 2-rnd bursts and single shots with the baur when assault. What it ends up doing is making me absolutely very effective with the voss when I equip it.
Only problem is I never feel like equipping the voss. I like the baur too much.|TG-Irr|Hiram_Yorik

Re: how do you practice aiming?
I started with short, controlled bursts to the torso. Now I find that I am able to walk the barrel up the center of the torso to the head for the quicker kill. I still have trouble with starting with the head shot..

Re: how do you practice aiming?
I just shoot my entire clip, then run away screaming. I would not recommend this tactic.

Re: how do you practice aiming?
If you're on the opposing team, I highly reccomend it!
I've found that putting the Baur on single-shot and just going for the immediate head shots has gotten me a lot of kills I never would have got before. If I'm low on ammor I find myself doing the same in close quarters. It just takes a little planning or a huge amount of "Oh crap, I don't want to die, must be accurate BAM BAM BAM oh my god..." The latter isn't very effective.

Re: how do you practice aiming?
I find the simple old Deathmatch tactic of strafe circle around your target start at the feet and walk it up into them works great. At range tho I use single shot or short burst. What I did to help me get the feel for bf 2142 was play single player put the computer on stupid and try out all the guns. Thats not the best practice you need the lag of the net for the most acurate practice. But it helped me out to get the feel of the weapons.

Re: how do you practice aiming?
I find that it helps to warm up with some of these techniques in a round of single player before I go play online. If I jump right into multiplayer I usually have a terrible first round. I thought I was the only one that actually practiced for playing a game!

Re: how do you practice aiming?
I wholeheartedly suggest taking your favorite weapons to a big wall, standing at different ranges, and noting the spread pattern for standing, crouching, and prone for each encounter range.
Get a feel for it.

Re: how do you practice aiming?
for wall shooting this is what i focus on.
i use the wall marks from bullets to note effectiveness.
1. mouse button fire control.
when firing your weapon pressing the mouse button will often make your mouse jump and hurt your aim. so i focus on keeping the mouse steady while firing short bursts. i focus on the physical mechanics of it by making sure my arm and wrist are relaxed. if you tighten up too much you will get some jitter and will hurt your aim.
2. crouch burst then sprintmove then crouch burst.
this is the most effective way of shooting i know of in this game. i focus on getting the timing right so i start shooting just as i crouch and stop just as a sprint. i do this against stationary targets focusing on hitting target with short burst, then sprinting then hitting same target with burst.
3. sprint in one direction then turn 80 degrees or so and fire at a target. i work on making that turn with precision and getting to target quickly. this is really effective at training your hand to react to targets. you know you need work when it takes too long to get your crosshairs on your target in game.
this training translates well to real game situtations.

Re: how do you practice aiming?
What I have found helpful is to find a "Dead" server, one that doesnt have enough people to actually start an actual round.
You spawn in, become the commander so you can resupply yourself, and then kill yourself if you want to test different kits.
Not only is it good for "Wall" target practice, but I have tried out my RDX, and other weapons on walkers, tanks, etc., but have probably spent the most time trying out the weak spots on walkers, from my observations, it takes 3 RDX packs, no matter where you put them, and that includes the grills, every leg joint, top turret, I tried it all.
Damage from a 100 percent walker with 2 RDX packs took it down to 31 to 39%, depending on location.
Oh, none of the deaths count, but its like having a private LAN to play the game on.

I've never knowingly practiced aiming but I'll post something on the subject.
In-Game: I hardly ever go prone while firing, the time taken to re-stabalise the aim is not worth the better accuracy. Crouch provides an instantly smaller target and a quick increase in accuracy. Firing in bursts is always the way to go unless you're in a close combat fight where it's hard to miss.
Technical: When taking a long range shot with the Baur. Use your whole forearm movement to get a rough aim on the target before pushing the bottom of your palm down and then using your fingertips to move the mouse for higher control.
My two cents. I didn't really answer the question did I.

Re: how do you practice aiming?
Step 1: find a pub server.
Step 2: Get a sniper roffle.
Step 3: Practice.

Re: how do you practice aiming?
Also remember that YOU don't always have to adapt to the controls to get better aim; the controls can adapt to YOU (ie.. play around with various mouse sensitivities and find the one that suites you).. I found that my accuracy and kill ratio increased greatly when I increased the the y-axis sensitivity because I was too slow on the draw..
