TV Missle Tips needed
Lateley I've been practicing alot with the tv missle, and this is what I've noticed. (you may well already know this)
I used to wait for the pilot to line up a shot on a target and when the crosshair was a little above the target i'd fire the tv missle. This was from pretty close range and I only got one shot before we had to make another pass and I ussually missed.
Now I'm using a different tactic. When in the gunner position I flip from the tv missle view and the gun view, shooting infantry and choppers with the gun while not using tv missle. What i'm waiting for is a white bracket to appear in the tv missle view. Ussually I can see the bracket from far away and the vehicle hasn't even rendered yet in my view (even on high graphics).
I fire at the center of the bracket and get the shot lined up before I can see the target. then by the time the target is visable i'm already aimed and just compensate for the vehicle moving.
I find that the missle moves so fast that if you fire from too close you can't adjust fast enough to hit something unless you start dead on.
If you are really far away (like all the way accross the big bridge on suez canal for example.) you can spend the first few seconds lining up the shot, and then just keeping it on target.
I find that I've been able to hit most everything I try for using this method. I even got a buggy with 3 people in it last night (woo-hoo)
Please add any thoughts or suggestions you may have on this tactic or any other tips you know about using the tv missle.

buggy eh? thats pretty sweet.
I've noticed that anything too close you're kinda not normally going to hit it. Its all about communication with your Pilot. Which makes it had on most public servers. I notced that in regards to aiming, you can't move your mouse too much, then you have a windy TV missle thats not going to hit anything. Minute corrections, and shots from farther away normally make it to their targets.

I have heard that binding your arrow keys to steer the TV missile helps with accuracy. I can see how this would be better, but I haven't tried this myself. I cannot confirm whether it'll work for you or not. Maybe it depends on personal taste.

Re: TV Missle Tips needed
i've found that firing the tv missle at a gunship from the rear is an instant kill.
however, at any other angle the gun is a much much better answer (and I'd hope that if the pilot was on the tail he'd blow the gunship anyway))
i've noticed that the tv missle is pretty much useless against the transport, but man is it sweet to hit a buggy, especially at the speed they move at

What controls let you guide the TV missle? Vehicle? Aircraft? Soldier?

I'm not sure either,
I tried to modify the sensitivity, and possible map the controls to the keyboard, but couldn't find them,
however, doing this kinda makes me go afk, which isn't good for the team, so I try and make these changes in a single player match

Re: TV Missle Tips needed
Yes low sensitivity helps alot you do not want to over correct the missle.
The missle works great in the single player, but soon as there is lag it turns to junk. I can change my sensitivity on the fly with my mouse it helps alot when gunning. One thing I did to get the aim down was to land on somthing high take over the gunner and fire the missle out. I do this on pubbies alot.

Re: TV Missle Tips needed
thanks for the advice folks.
Since my initial post I've gone from 98 kills to 275 with the gunship.
(all this weekend)
I find that the sight isn't really correct. If you aim at the middle of a transport it tends to hit the top or go over it by a foot. I try to aim for the lower part of it and end up hitting the middle.
On tanks it is best to aim high, as the gunship is pointed down and you don't have alot of time to pull up the missle, so I aim for the highest part on the back.
I've probrobly spent 5 hours as gunner in the past few days trying out different things.
The best idea is to fire from very far away.

The LAND VEHICLE setting controls TV missiles.
Set the sensitivity to about .5 when learning.
Crank up the sensitivity as it suits you.
I'm learning too -- great fun -- without macros!

Re: TV Missle Tips needed
Yep. You basically got it. From extensive TV missile experience for myself, i can tell you that the further away the better *minus the missile lock sound which causes alert pilots to put up their shield.. then it's annoying to go for another pass* and very minute corrections is the only way you'll keep it on target. I have to say that when usin the TV missile i only move my mouse MAYBE half an inch in any direction.

Re: TV Missle Tips needed
For ground attack, on the TG server, primary gunner position should always be the TV position. A team should not allow an enemy gunship so much superiority that they can spend time coming in slowly for the main guns, and they should only be capable of doing so in the period after intercepting an enemy gunship.
