    Squad breakdowns

Now I have seen different squads and their tags - what is the main difference between them? Like for example a gunship squad - does that mean they primarly like to operate as pilots (duh), but would it be a certain regiment or something like that? is there an kind of thread I could sign up for say a company?

    Sorry if this sounds dumb.

Squads with specific names will generally get the priority for that item, a squad named "Armour" for example will probally contain just engineers and will get a priority over the rest of the team for the armour on the map.

... I think please correct me if I'm wrong.

Incurable has the right idea. It's generally more so that people have a general idea of what they are getting into when they join a squad and let other squads know at the beginning of the round the vehicles that are "shotgunned" by certain squads. So if say there is a squad called "Gunship" and you are not in that squad, you should leave the gunship alone and let that squad utilize it.

Only works cause like noone wants to fly gunship - calling a squad "chopper" in BF2 wouldnt have worked so nicely lol

I have discovered lately that flying the gunship is one of my favorite things in the game but I still need a lot of practice.

We had CHOPPER squads in BF2 and JET squads. It definitely took more admin intervention, but they were managed pretty well. You see alot of "XXX, get out of the plane or join the JET squad." on the inline chat.

There's also SNIPER, ASSETS, DEFEND X, squads. You can pretty well tell what a squad is setup to do by the name. The squads are usually locked if they don't require 6 people, like gunship, sniper, or assets. If you want into one of those squads, you can request over inline chat and you will usually be let in, if it's not already full.

those are inhouse TG Squads who will play and practice together like an actual clan. TG itself is just a community who supports a certain type of gameplay - one with real teamwork. the Irr, 9th, 7th are squads who will more than likely be locked in itially and invite their members so they can play together. Once they have who they want, it'll be opened up for others to join.

irr has a policy of not locking squads that we lead.

also, if you see a LEARN-TG squad, that is a squad put together for the express purpose of teaching people new to TG the TG way of doing things.

of course, there is the TG bunnyhopping sniper squad i was in the other week...

we were instructed to bunnyhop to the flags with sniper rifles at the begginging of the round and to not stop bunnyhopping till we reached statue. we of course did this in column formation. VOIP was reserved for hysterical laughter.

Were you all yelling "Mine, Mine, Mine" as you did so? Wish I could've seen that...

And the 9th very rarely leaves a squad locked once we have our invites handed out and processed. If we do leave it locked it's most likely by accident...

9th, 7th and irr divisions have the strongest presence in bf2142.

if you see a squad lead by one of them and it is open, hop in. speaking for the irregulars, you can check out our forums here:

The only squad you can get into while your not a supporting member is the irregulars. They have a strong following in the future and are a great place to start.
