How to enter a friendly vehicle (hold the key)

I am sure most TGs know this already, but I've run over a few that do not.

Entering a vehicle is accomplished by pressing a key (default is E). Everyone knows this.

What everyone does not know is that you can HOLD THE KEY. That way, the friendly vehicle does not need to stop for you to get in, and you don't get run over. You can start holding the key anytime, even when the vehicle is far away. This is also a great way to get that gunship before the noob who's waiting with you.

PS. when repairing a vehicle, position yourself beside it. Make sure to NOT be in front or behind it.

Life is uncertain. Ride your best horse first.

Keep in mind that this works under any conditions, even while falling from the sky.

Good god. Its a bit embarrasing and yet slightly liberating to say, that even as a TG regular, Major General, and BF2 vet, I had never found out this little trick. Thank you for posting

Edit: Normally I would be forced to spam the E key as fast as possible, which works as well but your way is just easier to do in general

Also if you are SpecOps with C4 you can always try holding E in hopes the guy leaves his vehicle

yep, just hold E. you can jump out of a air transport in into an apc if you keep the E key down. in BF2, i would stand in a runway for a jet to pick me up to gun just holding down the E key, they would fly low and i would pop in.

of course, make sure the vehicle has room before you stand in front of them thinking you are going to hitch a ride.

exactly! Best way to CTF was to hold the key down and let a friendly fighter swoop in a pick you up!
