If I played on a server with more or less lag I couldnt hit anything. It has taken awhile but these days I can compensate for lag issues (not serious ones) within one or two clips. The trick is to had a handle on some reference shots lead the targets by a certain amount at certain distances when they are running at a certain angle to you...and if you miss check your ping or how the server performs during an orbital or somthing and adjust till you find the sweet spot. Then from there it is all feel.
All noted, thanks for the helpful information.

Am I a complete dumbass for not knowing what that means?

Moving targets were never really an issue, but getting the headshot on a moving body took/takes time. Its highly dependent on the angle the body is moving in relation to you. I find the easiest headshot to be someone coming either directly at you, or very acutely away, and above. People always think the best sniping spots are high, this is partly true. It gives you the best field of vision and area to look at, but in this game, thats highly cut down by fog. Also, it makes you a target also, your targets are at a much more difficult to hit angle, you'll be shooting almost straight down on them sometimes, giving you a harder target to hit. If you're having trouble hitting targets, I actually suggest pulling out the Zeller. Its got a limited clip, so it forces you to work for your shots. I found that to help a lot. (FYI, my Zeller stats are crap if you care to look, its from all the ridiculous long range shots I try and pull off.)

Recon was the kit I played from release day to about May, so I've gotten a handle on things I think, it can take awhile. If you wanna get "good," be patient, it helps. Plus, I think playing Recon has helped my other kits as well. My Voss accuracy is hovering 31%+ right now, and K/D ratio has been skyrocketing since early summer.
Thanks a lot for the help, especially when you talked about high vantage points, I had experienced most of it, but I hadn't played as a sniper enough to have those rules set in stone. Also, I know what you mean about the accuracy, my accuracy with the Voss really improves after using sniper rifles or the Baur.

(Btw, patience is not one of my many qualities, and I was hoping no-one would say patience, even though I knew someone would, someone always says patience with a sniper rifle is needed, unfortunately, )

And yes I do usually use the Zeller, for one reason:
It looks...so...damn...cool.

After a while, you will find yourself consistently being more accurrate, faster and more deadly.
yep, practice makes perfect, the same old story, there never is a universal secret, because if there was, then everyone would be able to do it,

Sorry. It should say, "the trick is to have a handle on some reference shots."

If you still need clarification on what I mean by that...you know where to find me.

I've found a couple of his spots, which you would be surprise of where they are, some are pretty much right in the open.

Re: Sniper + Squad

The best "spots" for sniping are in the open. You can't easily be ranged in for rockets to hit you, easily can make a break for any cover, can see enemies without things getting in your way, body won't get clipped oddly if you do get killed so its easier to be revived. You'll also get better lines of sight for the most part.

Re: Sniper + Squad

By reference shots I mean shots on moving targets that you know given usual situation SHOULD hit the target. These shots are basically just situations where a player is at around a certain distance running at approx said angle and you lead him by such a distance. These are shots you have made plently of times and are confident you will hit. If they don't hit, you know that something is up.

I try not to prefer 'spots'. I try to focus on that immediate tactical situation and think only about cover and escape when take my shots. Cover idealy consist of a primary and secondary wall. You stand infront of the secondary and use the secondary to shield yourself from the blast of PK rockets. Of course this isn't always possible, so think about escape. Know where you can run to get behind your forces, to get behind a place where they dare not rush in at you.
