Re: APM Placement
LOL.
My favorite thing to do is to be recon and wire up any vehicle I get into with RDX, then bail in front of a large group of people and blow the RDX once I'm a safe distance away.
However, I'm not sure if this violates the suicide tactics rules, so I usually use this on pubs.

Re: APM Placement
I would say that wiring a car, then leaving it for the enemy to get into it, then blowing it is a legitimate and incredibly funny trap tactic.

Re: APM Placement
Try doing it with the EU gunship. There's a big indent on the underneath. Fill it with RDX. Then hide, and watch the gunship fly awayyyy. And then BOOM.

This is covered by "no RDX jeeps" rule on TG server.

It's even better to do it to a gunship that's sitting idle.
xD
Watch them fly off, then after a few seconds, BOOM.
EDIT: Ninja'd.

Re: APM Placement
the absolute best thing is when you are in a tank, and jihad jeep comes over and you blow them into smitherines, take that RDX jeep!!!
I've also been in a tank defending a silo and was DOMINATING, i mean, the same squad got killed by me over and over and over,
after a while, I guess they decided they were gonna ram me with the transport, I shot it out of the sky from a distance of like 10 feet, they then accused me of having an "aimbot" and started the kick votes, obviously not on TG server

Re: APM Placement
Nope, you don't get the little red lines showing you direction, and you can sneak right over top of them if you're crouching or prone. The latter is also why you don't get the little warning beeps before it goes off. If you trigger it, it goes boom ASAP.
And no, you can't shoot it to make it blow-up either, you need specialized equipment*.
I think that about covers it on the difference between CoD 4 and BF 2142 AMP's.
*See Engineer's AE Defuser or Motion Mine Bait, Support's RDX shotgun, and Recon's Zeller sniper rifle.

Re: APM Placement
This may be a glitch or whatever, but some of my APMs managed to kill the driver of a FAV. If it does work everytime, then may be it's a more reliable defense than motion mines&emp.

Re: APM Placement
Actually, I don't believe it's a glitch, simply for the fact that one day on Camp Gib the same guy tried to buggy rush Toll, and got blown up by APMs both times. It was hilarious to watch the buggy going...going...and then roll to a stop when its driver got exploded out of the seat by the APM. It could be a legitimately useful tactic if you could work out the best spots to place them along the two main corridors leading through Toll. Not only that, but it would give people an excuse to spawn recon at the beginning of the round .
