Re: Smoke Nades : How important are they?

I can think of a very good use for smokes, but first, what does the radar add on/grade do? Is it like the little support clicker that gets the diamonds on the HUD?

And the best use of smokes i have ever seen was on a random titan server. They had broken thru to our Core, and me and two guys were defending (1 support, 2 assualts, not that it matters)

And this enemy squad sets up on the ramps and starts spamming smokes and EMPs into the core, as well as the occasional frag. It was a literall wall of smoke, and bolts of vision distorting electricity mixed in. To top it off, the last two squad members, and a few other guys kept cloaking in, and chucking RDXs all on the core, and since they were cloaked they could quite often get one or two RDX on. Very good tactic, IMO. Try it sometime if there is another TG titan opportunity

BF2 Special Forces tear gas would be cool. Especially for assaulting a Titan.

I have never really given smoke a try as a tactical weapon in this game it was the same old rocket/defid, but lately ive been boreed(like taking the herzog instead of the PKs) So i think next time i SL im gunna try some smoke tactics.
However I have to say I will NEVER give up my defib as an assualt.

Im in the same wagon with you guys, I found smoke few seats away from useless. But the revive thingy, it has the power of making your team the winning team if used correctly.

I haven't seen an effective use of smoke on a conquest server yet. In fact many I chuckle when I hear a squad throwing them because I am thinking awesome I know where you are coming from now.

And that's where they get you! They cunningly deployed a cloud of smoke in the direction they wanted YOU to BELIEVE they were coming from! Then they quickly and stealthily flank you!!! Muahhahaa.

    Here's a diagram:

Stupid me and playing PoE2 and PR for 8 months before getting 2142. I unlocked defib, advanced medhub, smoke grenade, voss, and herzog, and on the squad unlocks frequently unlock radar grenade. guess i'm next to useless :/

    Heh, smoke 'nades.

Used them once, smoke lasted for 5 seconds, and I get trampled by a head-on APC rush.

Although of late, I have been waiting for a good small squad for me to test out smokes in infantry combat. I've always wanted to go commando with the assault kit.

Why would you "go commando" with the assault kit but none of the other kits? Is the assault kit's BDU pants too tight?

Honestly, I don't use the smoke. Unless it is a map that the rockets aren't as useful, I equip rockets and the defib. But once in a while I would use the smoke instead of the rockets, and it has it's uses.
Yes, the smoke dispersal sucks. If I am pinned down by a sniper or other players, I just use it right on my feet, then go around the opposite direction. I guess it works, lol.
