Re: Clark-RDX Launcher
It's funny you should say this because I was recently playing medic on Carebare on the TG servers. Our squad was moving from Church to Command Tower and I got mowed down somewhere around Roadblock, but was quickly rezzed...only to find something in my hands that I didn't really recognize. I shot a couple rounds toward roadblock from the street on my way up toward Command Tower only to have them drop harmlessly in front of me.

The noise they made alerted the enemy to my position and I never made it up to the Command Tower...LOL

I got nailed by this for the first time. It's basically a more accurate grenade, but can't be lobbed over objects. It hits a wall, then there's the hissing, then you're staring at the ground.

Re: Clark-RDX Launcher
I still waiting to hear why you would take the rdx balls over the emp or sentry. The only reason I unlocked the rdx was for goofing off purposes and the stupid radar nade was my only other choice.

Re: Clark-RDX Launcher
Confession: I unlocked the Clark RDX before the defib.
If that's not enough to distract you from Ferris, I don't think anyting will be.

Re: Clark-RDX Launcher
OK. So all this talk of the RDX got me curious about my stat with this latter-day WMD. I was stunned by what I found. The screenshot is below. A couple of notes -- I included my Ganz stats for comparison purposes (it's something I use fairly regularly, and I think pretty OK
and the image is obviously Photoshopped, but only to cut down the size. That 41:1 K
ratio is ferrrrreals.

Re: Clark-RDX Launcher
I am currently ranked 253 in the global rankings with the Clark RDX. You all may laugh, but having racked up 125 kills with it, I can truly say it isn't as gimped as first impressions might suggest.
It is possible to put Clark RDX shots in some tricksy places that you couldn't otherwise reach with a grenade. The delay fuse on the explosion also allows you to place ambushes with it that you couldn't otherwise accomplish with the support kit.
I started using it at first because I figured it had to have *some* use or they wouldn't have bothered putting it in the game. Right? (It helps to pretend the smoke and radar grenades don't exist when telling yourself this).
When I first began my quest to master this weapon, I will admit the going was tough. My accuracy was poor, I had little understanding of both the mechanics of using it well, and also the tactics of using it well. Now I know better!
Trick number one is to acknowledge the recoil. Two good hits with RDX balls will take someone down. Or multiple people down. I can't tell you lately how often I get double kills with this thing. But it only works if you get two consecutive shots on target. You can miss with your first, and nail them with your second and third. Most people ignore the Clark RDX until it starts hurting them. So you can't hit with your first, miss with your second and then expect them to still be there for your third shot!
Having said that, spending some time mastering the recoil and learning the projectile path of the weapon is time well spent. Once you have done this you have to learn what types of shots to attempt.
I almost always view my RDX shots as miniature, self-contained ambushes. I fire in anticipation of the person being where my little glowing ball of doom is about to be. A wonderful tactic is to fire it onto a wall when your IDS tells you someone is about to come around it. Two shots there well timed, and you kill 1-3 people without ever showing your face because by the time they actually round the corner you're long gone.
Another great use is to get people hiding behind cover. Some nade throws are difficult, but the clark won't give you that tell-tale hissing. The first hint they really get is when they get put down to 40-50 health. If your second shot is on target, by the time they start moving they are dead. I also like to put my third shot in their probable escape path. That way if they take off quickly after hit #1 they often run right into the explosion of ball #3.
It really is a weapon that takes some foresight and skill to use well. But I can honestly say you can sometimes kill people in positions where a grenade just wouldn't do. It isn't for all occasions. It's like the lob wedge. You keep it in your bag for those special occasions. These days my default anti-infantry support loadout includes the clark rdx - and it is no longer just for laughs. My secondary is the IDS. I'll switch the clark rdx out for emp nades if I expect imminent vehicles.

Re: Clark-RDX Launcher
I'm pretty sure it does give a hissing when it sticks to the ground/trees/etc.

Re: Clark-RDX Launcher
You may be right, Anospa. People do not seem to notice it the same way they notice nades though. Maybe they just disregard because of the reputation it has.

Re: Clark-RDX Launcher
Heh, I'm willing to bet thats the case, I know I pretty much disregard it and move only when I think its about to explode or if I think it'll kill me, otherwise I just take the dmg.
