Re: G5 mouse and BF2142
I'm currently attempting to play with just a standard two button/scroll wheel optical mouse. I can't tell you the number of times I could have benefited from having a better mouse! I'm eyeballing a G5 on Ebay right now in hopes that it will help increase my game. Good to see others here that are happy with it.

Re: G5 mouse and BF2142
I just recently got a G5 and have been really enjoying it.
Personally, i like being able to adjust the sensitivity of the mouse in-game. If I'm in close quarters combat and need to be able to use my twitch reflexes, i'll turn up the sensitivity. If i'll be doing long range, then I'll lower it so i can have more precision while lining up my shots. (one advantage of increasing sensitivity to 2000 dpi is when using the railgun )I actually have the thumb button set for squad VOIP so i can communicate with my squad while performing with little to no distraction. I'm still trying to figure out how to use the right and left scroll things. I got it set for both the 5 and 6 keys so i can pull out my defib and rockets rather quickly, but i can only get it to work half the time. all the other times it just acts as a middle-mouse click or the scroll. And i got middle mouse set for 3.

Re: G5 mouse and BF2142
I love the G5, I just wish I had the two thumb buttons. Right now I have VoIP on the thumb button (this is awsome, you can key the mic without missing a beat). I also have TeamSpeak's press to talk key bound to "Tilt Right" and Commander Comm set to "Tilt Left". During BFCL matches, I'll bind the commander com to a TS wisper for Squad Leader to Squad Leader communications. The DPI adjustments are great for turrets and such. Great mouse!

Re: G5 mouse and BF2142
I'm having serious issues getting my mouse to behave in 2142. The sensitivity changes on it's own, and I've been getting this weird bug where I push the sensitivity button, nothing happens, but when I use the thumb button on the mouse (where my knife is mapped to) it changes to super slow, making me ineffective at knife fights because I can't turn around. I just gave up on it and started hitting 1 on my keyboard when I needed my knife, which is annoying because I have the rest of my weapon buttons mapped to my n52.
Lately, in mid-game, I have to hit the escape key, and tweak my mouse settings from 0.0 to 0.1 to deal with the changing sensitivity (even when I DON'T mess with the sensitivity buttons on the G7 mid-game.) Any ideas how to fix this? Right now, 2142 doesn't even recognize the side scroll buttons on my G7. |

Do Not Upgrade To 3.30!!!
As mentioned above, I've been having serious issues with this driver. I checked other message boards, and it is indeed SetPoint 3.30 that is the culprit. I uninstalled SetPoint from the programs, then uninstalled the driver. Then after rebooting, I installed SetPoint 3.10, which I downloaded from this site;
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/KEY...oint-310.shtml One more reboot, and tried it out in singleplayer. So far, so good. I can switch my dpi on the fly again, now we'll see to mapping keys. FYI, this is happening with the G7 mouse, so if you're doing fine with the G5 and SetPoint 3.30, ignore this post. |
