Tricking Motion Mines.
I not sure if most are aware of this. It's almost impossible with the hover tank.
If you come across mines and are able to stop yourself before they make contact, You have a chance to get away if they are far enough away.
Motion mines tend to reset thier position after small movements from a vehicle. They will move about half a meter and move all the way back. If you move to far they will move X meters and only move back 1/2 a meter. If they pick up speed and glide, They don't reset at all.
APC's and the EU tank are good at getting out of mines becasue the make very small movements and stop very quickly and allow the mines to reset and note glide.
Frist step is to locate the mines. You want to move away from it and much as you can.
The next step is to watch your back and clear the area. No point in moving if that engineer isn't dead. You'll be so focused on moving you'll be a sitting duck for the next minute.
Lastly you'll see the mines drop to the ground once your out of range. Do rely on the motion mine alarm. It bugs out and sometimes stops even if they are still activly tracking you.
I hope this helps save some armor in a tight pinch. This is most usefull by Monorail on Belgrade.

1. I assume this is don't rely?
2. As a side note, if your an engineer always place your mines behind a box or something to obstruct them from view. By the time they raise to visual height it's too late.

Re: Tricking Motion Mines.
A lot of engineers put their mines at the corner of buildings... bad idea.
Using Eroak's methods of mine escape, you can lead the mines into the adjacent wall/pillar/building they're next to.
First, identify where your attacking mines are. Know where they are, and where they're coming in from.
Second, slightly move, and then stall your vehicle to see how the mines will move. This is crucial, as their movement will tell you if your efforts will yield results or will just be futile.
Mines take a while to rise, move straight and then adjust (if I can remember) to the target. So, if the space between the mine and the obstacle is tight enough to where you can successfully move your vehicle to where you can't directly see the mine anymore, go ahead and move away from the mines. The mines will track your movement and run into the obstacle. If the space is open enough, move your vehicle enough to where the mines are close to said obstacle. Let the mines fall, then repeat. This will most likely take long enough to allow any engineer the time to get 1-3 good shots of you though, so get that anti-infantry weapon out.
My method of "Mine Dodging" is probably very skeptical to you at first, so maybe I'll need a video to prove this.

Re: Tricking Motion Mines.
im not sure if it was a bug or anything but when i was on PAC tank and i made contact with the motion mine i just shot my cannon away from the mines and from the shock of my cannon my tank inched backwards. then finally when i shot a few rounds i lost contact with the motion mines.

Re: Tricking Motion Mines.
All sounds pretty good, but I just assume to jump out and throw mine-bait. If you are gonna be driving armor, then you should at least be an engineer and try to have the unlocks. JMO.

Re: Tricking Motion Mines.
Aye Fubar, but what if you're the only one in the armor? TG is a place of jacking vehicles at every opportunity if your opponent isn't paying attention. Many an APC or walker has been stolen simply by running at them with RDX in hand.
If you kill the engineer, and your armor isn't crucially needed elsewhere, just wait for the mines to disappear.

Re: Tricking Motion Mines.
I usually find myself not having mine bait on hand when I'm in armor. I tend to go Assault or Support when in armor, and Engineer when I'm facing it.

Re: Tricking Motion Mines.
Anospa, this probably sounds silly but your theory of just killing the engineer and waiting for the mines to disappear has served me well on many occasions and I must thank you for what should be totally obvious advice!

Re: Tricking Motion Mines.
I've tried most methods outlined here, but I tend to not carry motion mine bait. I depend on my gunner to do so, and if I don't have one, I take the risk. I have a better chance of bailing and escaping the tank under fire (when I know enough shots are coming to trash it), than I do of popping out to clear mines. If I see no more than two mines in close proximity and I'm 100% health, you can pop a shield and get through them, you'll just need to be concerned with repairs. If time and space is available, reverse into them at maximum speed (especially with the PAC tank) as by the time they hit you they have a better chance of hitting the front and side, than the rear.
A lot of times, less experienced drivers come up close thinking a point-blank shot from their tank will do more damage (which it doesn't...) or just want that "sure shot" so that allows me to be close enough to them to pop out when my tank's ready to get shelled for the last time, and time enough to throw two motion mines, and snap off a Pilum. Typically this results in their destruction as well, as they're low in health or simply not paying attention. That also requires that you know the rate of fire of either tank (which is slightly different between the two) and the ability to time their fire if you think they're going to fire continuously.
Or do what they did last night and throw a bunch of EMP grenades, and the Medic thinking rockets are going to blow me to kingdom come.
Good tips/reminders, Eroak.

Re: Tricking Motion Mines.
Holy thread Necromancy Batman!
Medics shooting you with rockets is an annoyance. In fact, I've been killed by enemy armor because I couldn't see from the rocket spam splashing across my view. I guess a full squad rocketing an enemy tank thats already under fire could be an effective (if somewhat resource intensive) method of disabling it. Add some EMP 'nades and that tank driver will be ready to cry. (Wait, why I am I giving you guys tips on how to blow me up?!)
