Re: Growing Frustrations
Thanks to everyone for all the feedback. Now that I've had some more time to think about it, the better I feel. I often set unrealistic and very lofty goals for myself. It's a flaw of mine both in game and in real life as well. This is my first FPS and I've only been playing it for a few months, I shouldn't expect to be supertroop. I'll always aspire for that but for now I'll work with what I got, focus on teamwork, and just have fun.

Re: Growing Frustrations
Ferris hit the nail on the head. As long as you are following orders and contributing to your team you ARE winning. It's the TG way. I'm the world's worst twitch player (used to play ALOT of BF2 and it's mods) but I seem to be always welcome in squads led by TG'ers. I'd like to think it has something to do with communicating, mature game play and doing what it takes to help my team.

Re: Growing Frustrations
hey mmckee79,no one can be worse then me. about the only thing I can hit is my team mates, I miss amour/walkers even at 5 meters. I always seem to be blowing myself up with my own gernades somehow whenever I try to use them.
Just watch out for Ferris, he has a HUGE bullseye on him, he draws fire and arty like honey does bees

When we run out of motion mine bait, we use Ferris!

Seriously, to the OP - work on filling out your Engineer and Support kits, and always be willing to volunteer for those roles.
Meanwhile, keep practicing your aiming and firing, and you'll soon be winning your share of gunfights.

Re: Growing Frustrations
After finally getting to play for a couple of hours at a time on the TG servers, I have to say that I completely agree with what everyone is saying here. Usually on pubs I go recon and kill kill kill, but here I don't have to do that to have a good game. Here, I'm playing a supporting role half the game, as support or engineer, then when we're entrenched and need long distance fire, THEN I go recon or for CQC, assault and kill kill kill (or defib defib defib.)
The pressure isn't on to be a killing machine, simply being an effective squad member is enough.

Re: Growing Frustrations
If you feel like you're holding up your squad, it means you're not playing the recon kit enough.

Re: Growing Frustrations
Now let's not forget the most obvious factor here - this is a TG server after all - you are playing with arguably some of the better/best players of the BF2/2142 community. It's tough to kick a$$ and take names on this server when you have the likes of the 9th & 3rd squads swarming all over you.
I thought I was a pretty good player until I stumbled upon the TG server. You guys put me in my place and I strive to be a better player with every game. My points may not show this but I feel my squad play certainly does.
If you don't think you are improving - pub it for a week or two then see what you think!

Re: Growing Frustrations
Heh, if you think the 3rd and 9th are scary, you'd be terrified of league play. There are some truly amazing people out there.
