Re: Tactics: Gunship Gunner
Camera missles can be great for scouting out the map, those things will fly pretty far and you can spot out stuff too. But on the other hand, 5 seconds in the missle cam is 5 seconds not being present in the gunship.

Re: Tactics: Gunship Gunner
I love being the gunner but I never have a good pilot buddy to fly with, if you ever see me on and need a gunner for a gunship squad, send me an invite.
Cheers,

TV missiles are great at killing infantry, aim at large clusters when you are high up.

Oh boy its fun too. If its a direct hit, its a good chance they can't be revived either.

That's imo the job of the pilot, he flies the craft and he's responsible for the security of the gunner and himself.

Re: Tactics: Gunship Gunner
No reason the gunner can't help. I've been able to tell a green pilot when there's a SAAW coming in. Plus, who doesn't like changing their views to see how cool you look flying in the air.

Hahaha, I was actually kinda embarrassed about my flying that night, but if it impressed you, guess thats fine by me!
Still love that quote from earlier in the thread, "Enemy lightpole spotted!"

Re: Tactics: Gunship Gunner
Another useful fact about the gunship gunner position is by switching to the tv guided missile mode, enemy vehicles will be highlighted by a white colored target box. This comes in handy when you have either a heavily clustered battlefield or enemy vehicles hiding underneath cover. It makes them that much easier to see, spot, and ultimately kill
Btw Eroak you own in a gunship =)

Re: Tactics: Gunship Gunner
Certain Targets will not get a white box around them. The 2 types of Rosches but even more dangerously - if a Walker has noone in the Pilot seat but someone in the Gunner seat he wont have a box around him! Additionally Buggies wil sometiems have a box around them even tho they are empty.

Re: Tactics: Gunship Gunner
Nice coverage of the gunner Eroak. I noticed this thread was started several months ago and it's been a while since anyone has replied much on it.
I used to play with a pretty good friend of mine, unfortunately he quit the game. With him quitting, I didn't spend the time to find another good pilot, I just slowly quit as well.
Well, now I'm starting to feel the urge to get back in the air. I'm looking to find a good pilot. I'm not going to say I'm the best gunner, but I believe that I am above average. I have nearly 2,000 kills with the majority of those coming from the gunner seat. However, I can not take full credit for those, because any of us that love the gunship like I do know that it takes both a good pilot and a good gunner for air superiority to be at maximum effectiveness.
Anyways, I'll keep this fairly short. As stated above, I'm looking to get back in the air and willing to travel (to whatever server) to play, and practice with anyone who would like to create a pilot/gunner team with me.
So, if that sounds like you, then add Amedias in game or send me a message on xfire(captaincare).
Thanks
Amedias
Also, sorry if this was the wrong place to post this >.< but it seemed like a good place

Re: Tactics: Gunship Gunner
There are a number of good pilots here, I'm sure you can hook up with one. Jump in Teamspeak and ask around.

Re: Tactics: Gunship Gunner
Sweet, much appreciated man.
I used to be on a team, I'm sure you all or some of you all have heard of them before. I used to be on -<S7>- or syndicate 7. Great group of guys, but they moved far away from 2142 and that's where I felt we had our best games at.
I'm not sure if I want to get into a clan/team environment again just yet, but I'll definitely take your advice and log into your alls teamspeak tonight to try to hook up with a pilot when I get in from class(10 est) and try to find one.
Just curious, does teamspeak have user to user binds like in ventrilo? I know that's what my old pilot and myself used so that we could be in the channel with our team, but our chatter wouldn't interfere with theirs and we still could have the benefit of hearing what was going on on the ground.

Re: Tactics: Gunship Gunner
Sounds familiar.
If you're looking for a tight crew, but not ready for a clan situation, you've found the right place. At TG we're working to create a place where every pub match you play on our servers feels like it might be a clan scrim, even though it's a pickup group.
Stick around for a while, and see if we agree with you, and then you can think about looking into our In House Squads for a more dedicated group.

Re: Tactics: Gunship Gunner
Awesome, sounds like a winner to me. I do miss the comradery of being involved with a tight knit team. Just not ready to dedicate the time to practices as what my previous team looked for to happen.
Just out of curiosity, what's the current roster count? I understand, just by looking at the forums that TG is a gaming community of sorts, not dedicated to one certain game. Just wondering how many are sporting the TG tag?
