Which Engineer weapon do you prefer?
I'm talking about the AT ones, personally I prefer the default missile launchers, since I can manouver them to hit the side (or even rear, if I'm stupidly lucky) of a tank when firing from the front, or kill infantry more easily with it.
However, I've read the stats, and, damage-wise, they are very similar:

it seems more a matter of personal preference to me, which do you prefer?

Re: Which Engineer weapon do you prefer?
It depends. I never take the EU guided rockets. They make to much noise and make 4 times the trail smoke to track back to you. The PAC guided rocket is harder to spot out. The downfall to rockets it they give out a warning tone on the armor, They often blow thier ECM and deflect thier first shot. But that can also be a good thing if you have the time to sit a few extra seconds and cause them to use the sheilds pre-maturly.
I like pilums becasue they are non-tracking and no tones. Great "fire and forget" projectiles so you can run for cover right away. So I perfer Pilums on smaller boards with closer quaters and guided PAC for open boards with many vehicles.
And always light armor!

Re: Which Engineer weapon do you prefer?
Pilum, but i am starting to really hate the random deviation. Especially when firing at 25m, i understand if its at long distance, but it shouldnt deviate so much.
And i find the defaults too hard to guide to be worth the time it takes to guide them

What's this about engineers and light armor?
I've only heard of snipers running about with light armor because it decreases stamina consumption.

Re: Which Engineer weapon do you prefer?
Same as Zoraster for me.
If on a big map and flying gunship, I'll take a SAAW and keep it scoped in until gunship spawns to try and find them before taking off.
I wear light armor 24/7.

Engineers are not good vs infantry in general with a sub-machine gun. So I stay out of the fire fight and focus on my role, Anti-Armor. Armor has weakpoints to exploit. To get to this weak point, you often have to flank the armor. Flanking armor often takes long run distance and thus is teh reason I run with light armor all the time for a engineer

Re: Which Engineer weapon do you prefer?
Pilum for short to medium range, guided rockets for medium to long range.
Guided rockets vs goliaths so you can actually hit the repair panels.
A few tips for guided rockets:
- bait the vehicle into using their active defense. Aim at them but dont fire right away. They will blow their shields. Once they drop, fire.
- aim slightly above your target to avoid setting off their warning alarm. Steer it down at the last second to hit.

I did not know this...I thought the alarm sounded if you looked at their general location, thanks Hidus.
As for pilum vs rocket, I used to swear by the pilum, but the deviation was driving me nuts, now that I've swicthed to default rocket not only do I rarely miss armored targets, I can nail infrantry with enough precision to take out snipers off in the distance. The only down side is you sitting their exposed while you guide it, I do miss the fire and forget nature of the pilum.

Pilum and definetly light armor, You need to ba able to move around quickly. On Belgrade I usually form a squad that consists of 2 engy, 2 assault, and 2 support. I use two fire teams to enable a cross-fire or defend from 2 positions.

Re: Which Engineer weapon do you prefer?
If you quickly hit reload after firing, the default AT missile will just continue off in the path its currently taking. Still gives the ECM warning I believe, but you can get to cover. As for other odd things, you don't have to be scoped in to give an ECM warning. Same goes for the SAAW, if you're scanning the sky not scoped in, you'll start locking onto targets.
As for damage, the Pilium excels at attacking low-armor areas and weak spots, while the defaults do give a bit better kick to heavily armored areas.

Re: Which Engineer weapon do you prefer?
Just for my two cents--I use the Pilum or the SAAW (depending on the map's armor) almost exclusively. However, that's mainly because I just suck at guiding rockets.
