The most tangible nonexsistant disk ever!

Psyched over another Titan Scrim I loaded up my BF2142 DVD and started up the application to get...

Quote:
Please ensure Battlefield 2142 Installer Disc is in the drive.
So I take out the disk and put it back in to get the popup autostart menu. Hit "Play BF2142" and it loads up to get the same error.

Uninstall and reinstall later and still the same problem.

The disk can be read, it can be installed from, it just can't play the damn game. ARGH!

Re: The most tangible nonexsistant disk ever!

Here is a related thread. There are a couple possible solutions in it.

Edit: Here is another thread that may help.

I find it greatly ironic that the solution a lot of people come up with for "The program thinks I'm running a crack" is "Get a program crack".

I take this to mean that you are still having this problem. The "no-cd crack" however was not the only solution in the threads I linked. The most likely culprit is some sort of virtual cd/dvd drive software running on your PC which is more or less triggering the games security checks.

Aslo, if you were having problems with punkbuster right before you started getting the CD error then you may be interested in this thread.

Make sure to try what G-man suggests as well because I have seen this work before.

Please let us know if none of this works for you so that we can continue to try to help you get back on the battlefield. Cheers.

Another thought- contact EA and tell them all of your info and pray that you get an english speaking teck support person.

Re: The most tangible nonexsistant disk ever!

I had this problem before with AOWirect action, I could install it and read it once, but not again, so I had to install it every time I wanted to play.
