graphics card?

i Downloaded the demo for 2142 to see if it would work on my computer, and it worked fine until i tried to log on or create an account, when it would just freeze up and i would get a graphics card error and have to close the game. My graphics card is good enough to run Halo perfectly without lag so i don't see why it cant handle battlefield even with a bit of lag (ATI Radeon 9250) anyone know whats up? i talked to EA about it and they didn't know crap

perhaps the demo files are bad. Other than that, I'm not sure, 2142 is buggy and as you have already learned EA doesn't usually help much.

Your video card is not supported by the game. I Recall my Radeon 9000 not working at all for Battlefield 2 way back when. The lowest Radeon card that is supported by the Battlefield engine is the 9600 (if I remember correctly), which I am sure applies to 2142 since it is the same engine.

Although getting the game to the Create Account screen shouldn't be possible...

Could always try the newest drivers.

Zoopy is correct as far as I can remember. You have to check the compatabilty with the game. BF2 and BF2142 take a huge amount of resources and are not supported does not support certain cards. That seems to be your problem, but you should have never been able to play at all if the card isn't supported.

That's sort of a vague video card minimum spec (32 MB with T&L hardware could be a ATI 8800 card lol).

Always check the supported chipsets if you want to get a feel for what graphics hardware you might need in order to run the game.

You'll have to pick up a better card to play the game.

No, the video card should be at least 128 MBs. 256 MB is usually recommended.

yh, mine is just 128 MB, so my graphics settings are all set on low. That's another reason why I think I lag more than most, my graphics card isn't exactly amazing, and everything looks really crap when I play.
