This may sound dumb, but make sure you hit the apply button in order for the options to take effect.

This shows my unsuccessful attempt at finding this damn file, just go here, click on the image and the on full size.

This is my crappy freewebs site that I spent about 2 days on about a year ago. Since I don't have any photobucket or other image sharing accounts, I just thought I'd do this, .

Please tell me if I'm doing something wrong, because I can't figure it out, but you more clever and less computer challenged guys out there will probably have a better chance.

(I had this problem myself and Rage, Machowner and Icehawk were very helpful, this may help a few people, I'm not great with technical problems, never blessed with the talent of understanding computers, but thought I might be able to help whenever possible )

Thumbs up Re: Fix for Loading Screen Freeze!

Sorry, I missed that post.

Confirmed.

Deleting the radial.cbd file worked for me.

Thanks !

Re: Fix for Loading Screen Freeze!

Thanks so much for this information. I run the PB updater files everyday before I go ingame. Last week the PB updater was UPDATED twice. Then my winXP would not let the map load. The as described 50-60 % map load. I removed the radical file , and BOOM. I am back ingame! THanks again.

Re: Fix for Loading Screen Freeze!

Another tip: To save yourself from constantly having to delete the Radial file every time you want to play. Do this:

Copy the file, paste it somewhere in your CPU (My Junk folder)
Rename the original (I named mine stoopid)

After you play a new radial file will appear but it you will NOT have to delete it, it no longer records date.

Re: Fix for Loading Screen Freeze!

Question: I renamed my file and backed it up, should I delete the original or just leave it? THanks in advance.

Yes, same thing happens to me. Never had this problem before, until last week or so.

No matter what system your running, we will all have the problem. Just scouting the other forums alone, by view I already estimated a few thousand players got it. Why it affects you is determined by the EA Master Server. Mine was day 2 of patch 1.4 and I've been seeing more and more lately.

Basically heres the run down of what I did:
Copied the radial file
Dragged it to "My Junk" folder (pretty much junk and installers I like to save, pack rat)
Pasted original in my Bf2142 folder
Renamed it too poop
Another radial file was create when I logged on
Left that file alone
Never had another incident

---If you just delete the file it isnt going to do anything. Ive seen a few forums say DELETE the file but then it'll just be recreated causing the problem again. DO NOT DELETE IT. JUST RENAME THE FILE BUT SAVE IT ELSE WHERE.

The Log will still be recorded under the file whatever you renamed it to. My case it was "poop," it outsmarts the game so it doesn't keep filling up the log.

Re: Fix for Loading Screen Freeze!

When you rename it, do you have to remove the .cbd or does that really matter.

Re: Fix for Loading Screen Freeze!

OK Azura, I'm having a few problems, I'm pretty sure I followed your instructions of copying and pasting and renaming etc, but I'm still getting the problems. I thought I'd post up some screenshots so you could maybe take a look at what I'm doing wrong.

This is My Electronic Arts Folder.

This is inside the Battlefield 2142 folder, the "Infected File (DO NOT TOUCH)" is the radial file renamed in my BF folder, and as you can see, there is a radial file there as well.

This inside the "Junk (Radial.cdb File)" folder. The radial file that is copied and pasted.

So I was just wondering what I was doing wrong.

P.S. I crashed on the TG servers and crashed half-way through loading MG servers after I rebooted. I've now posted this, and deleted the Radial File. And a big whoopsie about the grey , guess I shouldn't have made the white transparent in the last 2 pictures right?

Re: Fix for Loading Screen Freeze!

All right to fix that, just go ahead and delete the "Infected File" (Funny name) then after your done playing go back and rename it again. That'll start it all over so you won't have to delete it again!!

Re: Fix for Loading Screen Freeze!

OK, I was just about to follow your advice when this happened

Why are there 2 radial files and which do I modify?

I'm so confused...

Re: Fix for Loading Screen Freeze!

Rename radial.cdb, the Master Server will log another one as "Radial" but the .cdb is what makes the radial file work! Honestly I don't know why it's like that, but all I know is it's bad stuff!
