Dear all,

Could you please help me on the following issue?

I installed the BF2142 dedicated server v1.40 (downloaded from gamershell) but I have a problem.

All clients get disconnected immediately (after the loading screen and just before pressing the “join” button).

On the server console, I have the following message:

"dep: kicking client 0 (Rasta-GR) for using modified data"

On the client, I see the same massage. "Kicked for modified data"

With my client, I can connect to all Internet servers (and of course TG servers)

I updated PB manually on the server, but I have the same problem.

Reinstalled everything... the same problem…

Tried the “default” server configuration, but did the same.

Before 1 month I had the BF2142 server (previous version) running on the machine, without problems.

What is going on?

I would suggest blowing away the server install and starting from scratch, see if that helps. Please post the results if you do try.

Actually, we are having the same problem with our private server (downloaded straight from EA). If you find the solution, please report it here.

OK, I will experiment and post any results here.

Lorax, what do you mean? Reinstall the Operating System or just the BF2142 server. I have done the second.

Server specs are:
Brand: HP
Model: DL380
CPU: 2 x Xeon 3GHz
RAM: 3GB
HDD: 2 x 140GB
OS: Windows 2003 Server STD edition, with all the updates

Update:

Uninstalled server, delete any rogue files left, clean up the registry, install the server again.

I started the server without PunkBuster and I have the same problem.

So it's not a PB issue. I am confused...

Did you find anything?

Can you try renaming the file 2142\mods\2142\std_archive.md5 ?

Checked all md5 files on both systems.

The client and the server have different files with different content .

Client std_archive.md5:
0 0ff5fd294aa58ace24836acbbbada296

Server std_archive.md5:
0 b9eeaacee72bb71ce18dce86c75046d2

And so on, for all the 9 following lines and is true for all the other md5 files on both systems.

I also noticed that the server has more maps than the client (on the ..\Levels\).

As per DBs suggestion above, I would try renaming the .md5 files so that it does not try consistency checking. I will attempt that on our server as well.

Update:

I copied the client files std_archive.md5 and ..\Verdun\archive.md5 to the server (ovewriting the server files).

I started the server with PB enabled and Verdun map only.

Bingo . It works !

So, it's on the server files... I don't know... other version maybe? something different? Maybe all other files are correct but the MD5's escaped QA (if any...)

I did not generated any new MD5's.

I copy all the MD5's files from the client, to the server. It works.

Tempus, did you solved the problem on your private server ?

Guys,

I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth re this thread.

I have been busting my head against the wall trying to get the Dedicated server app for BF2142 to work with V1.4 to no avail for several days now. I have never had a problem with any other version of the ded server for 2142 in the past. They have all worked flawlessly along side of 2142CC.

After searching again today, I came across this thread. I would have never thought of moving the md5 files from the retail install to the server side to fix the "unmodified content" error. I tried it, I moved the md5 files from each of the map directories to the corresponding dir on the server side as well as the std_archive.md5 file and viola..it works perfectly.
