Can't talk on Teamspeak with my new dual monitor setup (one monitor being the laptop)

Ever since I got my new 22" monitor for my Apple MacBook Pro, I've been unable to talk in Teamspeak while the game is running and on the screen.

If I ALT + TAB out of the game, I can talk on TS. I can hear everyone on TS with the game up w/ no problems. This started for the first time as soon and ever since I hooked up the new monitor. Before, I was just playing on the laptop monitor. When it was just the laptop monitor, I could use TS in-game with no problems.

At first, I had TS open on the second monitor (which was the laptop). I thought this was the problem, so I set it up so that my 22" monitor was the only one running, and the laptop screen isn't even activated (it's blank). The problem persists both ways.

I'm running Vista using Bootcamp, and I'm running BF2142 in admin mode. Also, my microphone is the one that is on/ in the laptop.

Any ideas how to fix it or possible solutions to try?

No clue, I'm not even sure where to begin. I have no experience with Vista as of yet (I'm avoiding it), so I don't think I'll be of much help to you.

Has anything else changed other than the new monitor? Does TeamSpeak work as expected if you boot up without the monitor attached and enter the game?

Thanks reaper. That's exactly what I needed to do. Nuckj told me that I (also) need to be running TS as admin, like I was BF2142. For future reference, this can be done by right clicking the icon, go under compatibility, and click run as admin. This is only necessary for Vista.

I still don't understand why it only acted up once I set up the new monitor...

Thanks!

No, it never has for me. But, all that I use Vista for is BF2142, and occasionally Photoshop. I haven't gotten (i.e. been given) a copy of Photoshop for Mac yet . Otherwise, I'm not even booted up in Windows. So, I pretty much just have those two programs, TeamSpeak, and Firefox installed. I was finally forced to install flash on it, but I really didn't want to.

Have you tried searching for solutions on Google? Are you using Leopard, or is this from the Beta version of Bootcamp?

Re: Can't talk on Teamspeak with my new dual monitor setup (one monitor being the lap

It's not my computer I just use it (PowerMac, 4gb Ram, Geforce 8800 GT, 30-inch cinema display you can see why I use it ) , not much is installed on Windows either either. Office (for Access), 2142, TS and not much else. I think it's a lack of Video card drivers for BC. It's running that whatdemacallit that can run windows in a window on Leopard.

Problem is any time I play 2142 or CoD4 Blue screens after a variable amount of time. Maybe at login maybe after a couple hours of play (once on start up though). The software's just out so I will probably wait for patches and so forth

Re: Can't talk on Teamspeak with my new dual monitor setup (one monitor being the lap

Ooooooooh, you're not actually running Bootcamp. Bootcamp runs Windows natively and can only be used on an Intel Mac. You're using something like Parallels, which means virtualization. In other words, with Parallels, you have a window for Windows, and still have access to your Mac OS at the same time. This is nice in certain cases, but doesn't allow you to get full system resources for the virtualized OS (Windows). When you boot into Windows using Bootcamp, you just have access (at that time) to Windows. But, it runs natively, which means it runs just like any PC (HP, Compaq, Dell, etc.).

So, honestly, I'm surprised that it will even start up and play the games at all in the virtualized OS. I didn't know that it was possible.

EA did recently release a Mac version of BF2142. I've heard that it has some performance issues versus running in XP or Vista, but it does run. So, that's an option for you. I haven't tried it, though.

Incorrect my friend it's new software called VMware It stacks a very good virtualisation on it's own version of Bootcamp, well the way it was installed it did. It just came out of beta so I suppose these things are to be expected.

I was running it in a bootcamp partition, it's just probably a driver issue that might be patched in time. Slightly odd since the 8800 is quite popular sigh...

Thanks for the help though.

I'm running windows XP, and I turn off my 2nd monitor while playing (from desktop properties), which reduced CTD. Maybe this will also help with your TS problem?

Yeah, I just discoverd and started using this today. I haven't booted up a game yet, but I'm going to try it soon. I was AMAZED that it worked with my currently installed Boot Camp partition! That's just awesome!

Sorry I couldn't help you, but you kind of helped me, so thanks!

But, even so, if yours is a PowerPC, not Intel, it can't be running from a Boot Camp partition (a partition that could be run on its own natively). Boot Camp is only a feature that can be done on an Intel Mac.

Ok, when you said Power Mac, I thought you meant PowerPC. Are you talking about the new(er) Mac Pro tower computers? Those things have some niiiice specs-- and you pay for them, too, lol!

Well, if you ever get the chance to, booting natively using Boot Camp works with no flaws, no blue screens, or anything.

I was using BC , didn't dare try it in FMWare. The video drivers wern't compatible for a while but new drivers were released about a week ago and in conjungtion with several windows updates it worked. It's really nice. Oh and I didn't buy (me poor) it I just have the use of it most weekends.
