Hi there, i have been having some issues with my VOIP so it thought i would ask here.

The problem arises when i get into a map.

Prior to joining the server my VOIP is enabled, my microphone is working fine, and i have tested the VOIP volume for mic gain to test its working.

Once i join it works for a little while, but after say 5min of playing, it just turns off.

As in my mic gets disabled under sounds (on desktop) and if i hit escape and click audio it shows it as turned off, even though it was on 5 min ago. It also shows no VOIP icon on the squad screen.

Its getting really annoying because i cant use VOIP!!!!

The mic i am using is my webcam which plugs into a USB slot.

Help please.

Hi Heretic.

Maybe that's your problem.

I do not know if BF2142 can cooperate with a USB mic.

Do a test and try a normal mic (i mean a mic with a mini-jack plug).

If the normal mic works then your problem is your webcam.

I have to use a USB headset for 2142 because my sound card won't allow me to run TS and VoIP at the same time. However, you may want to check your Windows settings for your mic. I know I had to tweak mine quite a bit when I started using the USB headset just to be sure that my sound card drivers weren't being used. (I want to say my on-board sound is RealTek, but it's been a while, so I'm not sure.)

Thanks for the replies.

I know it works because it will work for a couple of minutes where i can talk and receive VOIP chat, but then it turns off.

TS?
If by TS you mean teamspeak, the VOIP i am refering to is the one used by bf2142 that allows you to talk to squad members. If that is teamspeak, thats what im having trouble with.

And what tweaking?

Sorry i have tried a little bit of tweaking but i am not sure what tweaking you mean.

Back when I first got a mic, my VOIP stopped about 2 minutes into a round.

If you have a windows firewall, load up 2142, and go to your firewall settings and make sure it's not being blocked. For some reason, my firewall does that to me everytime I reinstall windows.
