Hi!

I got Vista 32 Ultimate, and a rather new computer.

Well, at first I couldn't even start Battlefield 2142, but after using various threads on TG, I found that I had to run it as Administrator.. And now the game starts, but after I log in, and select soldier, I get CTD.. Someone got any suggestions?

Hmm, let's trouble shoot!

How much RAM does your computer have?

What type of graphics card are you sporting?

Update: I looked into it, my best is that is actually a driver issue.

1. Update video card
2. Update sound card
3. Update your chipsets!

Foxconn GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB
2048 GB RAM..
Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 @ 2,4 GHz

I know it is way too little RAM for Vista, but then again I can play games like Battlefield 2, Counter Strike Source, Two Worlds, Oblivion, Unreal Tournament 3 on best graphics.. had problems playing Battlefield 2 at first because I only had 1 GB RAM, but no more problems after upgrading.

BTW; I could start, and play BF2, but it was lagging so much that it ruined the experience.



Oh, and I checked for graphics driver, and I've got the latest one.. I'll check into chipset and audio tomorrow.

Hi! I tried updating graphics, chipset and audio-drivers.. but the same result; CTD after selecting soldier.

I've also tried creating a new soldier in case there was something wrong with the settings on the other one.. but still the same.

All right, hmm well you computer definitally can handle the game, so let's cross that off our list. So it's either the game or the OS...

The game worked fine until you switched to Vista?

Is Vista all updated? Did you try my Vista fixes as well?
