Re: 1.5 Punkbuster Issues?

Holy Crap!

I FINALLY managed to get onto a server. Anyways, here's what I did (I imagine few others are having problems like this for the same reason as me...)

So, a while back, before patch 1.5 came out, I uninstalled 2142 to make room for some other files on my harddrive. When I reinstalled it, I didn't have my CD Key on me, so in the end I asked a friend for help and he came up with a CD Key, which I suspect came from a key-gen. On the previous patch, this was fine and I was able to log on and play, but it seems as though on patch 1.5, they added one unmentioned feature - now your CD Key gets checked once you're in the server, so I got kicked often because of that. Of course, I probably could've solved this problem MONTHS ago if Punkbuster had told me anything other than 'Punkbuster:'

I have a friend that wants to play bf2142 on his vista manchine but he's struggling. He's gettin "pnkbstrB service commuincation failure" and is getting kicked after 20 secs online. I was reading the previous posts and it mentioned something about running BF2142 in Admin mode for vista. May this solve the problem? Has anybody encountered the same issue?

We have tried updating punkbuster and all the rest with no luck! Pnkbstr services are running in the system tray so no probs there. We have also tried deactivating the firewall, still all he can play is single player . . . . .yes single player . . . . . with those highly skilled unpredictable bots

i have tried all these things still i cant get on for more then 20 secs but i tried a random server that ran a map i havent seen before and i didt get kicked , but once i left that server and tried and other server i get booted ?

Well, I have recently reinstalled 2142 to keep me occupied until my new computer is built. Unfortunately, I receive the same error. I think it is the CD key used though, as I did need to do the same thing as Yeti (unfortunately, I can not find my cd case or manual to get that key.)

All the typical fixes have been attempted, deleting the pb folder, those two pbsvc, and setup files, pretty much everything on the forums, to no luck. That suggestion (CD key) was the only one that I haven't attempted. Now, why couldnt EA make my life easy and have the key be recoverable with SIW (system info for windows)

Alright, I think it is the cd code used when you (re)install. If you registered your game, go to support.ea.com, on the left side you will 'my ea' and under it 'my account'. Fill out the info (just used the stuffed used to log in to 2142.) A new window or tab should pop up, and require you to log in again, just use the same info. After you get logged in, along the top, you will see some tabs, go to my games, and hopefully one of them should be Battlefield 2142 - PC. Just under it, it should say 'Registration Code: (some code)'. Reinstall BF2142, and use that code as your CD key, install the patch, then have fun.

Note: Again, cant say this is a cure all fix, its worked for me, however that was using a key gens CD key, not the one in the manual. If you used the key from the manual this will probably not work.

Another note: Has allowed me to get into 2 games straight now, which is 2 more than before, cant say if it is a long term fix.

My problem is I only get kicked from Tacticalgamer 2142. All other servers are not a problem. Happens after I'm in the game for a few minutes. No explanation, just kicked with the PUNKBUSTER box. Seems more like it's an admin kick rather than a code problem. Any ideas to cure this ?

just checking
are you in a squad
our server is unique in that it kicks a player automatically after 90 secs if you are not in a squad
