    Unhappy 1.5 Punkbuster Issues?

    Has anybody else been having Punkbuster issues after applying version 1.5?

    I ended up reinstalling Battlefield completely to get the patch to work in the first place, but now Punkbuster kicks me out of every server I go to the moment the 'Join Game' button appears. I got 'pbsetup' from the Punkbuster site, but while that did claim to patch 2142 to the most recent version, I'm still getting kicked?

    Anyone know what's going on?

    I also tried reinstalling Punkbuster and reapplying the patch, but now it doesn't even bother joining the server, instead instantly stopping me from joining any server.

    *EDIT*: Great - now I've tried reinstalling the entire game, reapplying the patch, and then updating Punkbuster again, and it STILL doesn't work. Is it just me, or is punkbuster better at keeping people who aren't hacking out of Battlefield than it is at keeping the hackers out?!?

    Could be the master server issue. If it does not clear up, repatch and try again.

    I'll try that and see if it works, but given that it isn't working after completely reinstalling and repatching PunkBuster, I have a feeling it'll screw up as usual...

    Okay, tried again and it got me past the join game button to kit selection before Punkbuster booted me again. Gah!

    Ho my god, Now I hate Punk Buster, Im also having the same problem, since installing patch 1.5 I can't get into any server, always get the error "PUNKBUSTER" and get kicked. Since then I've:
    - Erased all files related to punk buster and uninstalled all services
    - Re-installed punk buster for the game using pbsetup.exe, then reinstalled the services
    using pbsvc.exe.
    - All tests go perfect
    - Both services are running
    - The windows firewall is off and there are no other firewalls or antivirus installed
    - Tried to run the game from another Windows User, just in case

    and stilll..... YET stillL!!!!!! get the incredible awasome FULLY DESCRIPTIVE error "PUNKBUSTER" , as if those magic words will give me the pleasure that I get from fragging in bf2142... AS IF....

    If somebody has a light to iluminate this darkness, PLEASE... PLEASE com forth.

    Oh this happened to me. It might have been something to do with a firewall that you might have had up. Make sure that your firewall is closed down or that it allows BF2142 to have free access to whatever it wants (the new patch basically acts like a new program and needs to have its permission levels made). I also had to restart after doing this and then it worked fine for me.

    iamdarksoul - you may just want to reinstall the game and then install the patch again. Or get some help on a PB forum or something.

    I also reinstalled BF2142 after a long absence....getting the same very precise descriptive error message: PUNKBUSTER.

    Anyone find a solution yet?

    I fixed it.

    Go into your BF2142 folder.
    Select bf2142.exe
    Right click it.
    Go to properties.
    In ther then theres a box to check called "Run this programe as administrator"
    Click that.
    Problem solved.

    ^^ Hmmm that's not the problem for me... I got that message last year but I'll try to search for the solution...

    When you join in on a server, I get an error message from Punkbuster about something like information transit with PunkbusterA.exe...

    I am going to try to push further in my search!

    Well obviously my solution wont fix every problem......just the one its the solution for...

    The run as admin trick is for anyone with Vista...

    A few have reported that pb-a files did not install correctly when patching to 1.5 so some have had to re-install pb manually.

    I fixed my problem by running pbsvc.exe....

    But like you said the problem seems different on Vista... So can't help for that OS

    do you get punkbuster handshaking.exe failed?


    thats what im getting. its really annoying. when there is more than 30 people on it usually wont let me on the server but when its just a few it seems to work fine. i usually reboot my CPU or quit game and go back in but even that doesnt make it work most of the time..... amazingly this is the only server on PoE2 that i get this problem

    I just got that issue connecting to the TG server like 3 or 4 times tonight. I'm too lazy to do all of the deleting and re-installing above so like most problems I have, I'm just gonna sleep and hope it goes away .
