I'm all for the fun people have been having on the forums lately, and I always thought of the 8th as stand up guys, but do we have to polute every thread with the Catman silliness?

3. Removed EA Download Manager from Control Panel.

6. Patched to 1.4.
7. Installed EA Download Manager, installed NS.
8. Patched 1.4 again.
9. Patched 1.5.
10. Ran pbsetup for BF214.

The game works just fine now...

So I called up EA tech support today...

I told them I had tried a bunch of fixes, and wanted to get rid of the unmodified content error. The tech support person helping me told me to hold as he searched for a solution to the problem. He then directed me to a solution he had found on "tacticalgamer.com" for the problem. That's right, EA tech support directed me to tactical gamer for a solution to the problem.

However, I had already tried the solutions here, as I informed the technician.

How we (possibly) solved the issue was by looking at the game rights I had on my account. Apparently, I only had rights to northern strike, and not to BF2142 regular. This might be because I installed from the 2142 Deluxe Edition DVD, which installs both 2142 and NS at the same time. Fortunately, they awarded me the rights to 2142 regular.

Perhaps this is the cause of the problem for some people. Namely, that the modified content check also checks for game rights.

So far, I've only played 2-3 games. I haven't gotten the error on those games, ... yet. However, it could potentially happen for me. It never used to happen after every round for me, but only after some rounds. So I'll have to see. Hopefully this is a viable solution to this issue for me, and a solution for other people.

If it works, the solution would be to call EA support and inform them you need rights to 2142 regular on your account.

Okay finally tried doing this the right way, already tried the easy ways.

Followed Zho's and Oniel's steps and just got tothe the NS install part.

But when I try to install NS, it does not work, and instead the bar fills really quickly then it says "UPDATE AVAILABLE", and the only option is okay which closes the install.

Is this because of the 1.5 patch coming out? Or am I doing something wrong?

-Uninstalled through control panel, manually cleaned out
-rebooted
-installed from DVD, installed 1.4 patch
-tried to install NS*

*note I had saved the NS executable from the last time so didn't use the ea download manager for this - would that have made a difference?

*update: Just installed EA download manager - the interface has changed, and now the only option for NS downloads is full 1.5 patch, is this what they now reccommend???

I've still been getting this issue, despite the last time I called EA.

Today I called EA again. This time they forwarded the problem up to the development team, who should contact me within 48 hours. Meaning, this time the developers should be taking a look at this and getting back to me.

I am wondering if the solutions given here are maybe out-dated... I followed them and when I got to the NS part it keeps saying 'UPDATE AVAILABLE'... Should I perhaps try it with my internet disconnected, maybe it is checking online or something???

Well, never mind me and my ramblings, got it working the second try by following the steps more closely, and doing the registry thing too. THANKS GUYS!!!

Just played a round, really missed that big ugly goliath.

I got with Oneill last night and changed the registry and reinstalled the 1.5 patch and fixed it. Thanks Oneill. One thing I have noticed is when doing patches and stuff the hour glass disapears and it takes awhile for the install to begin I have in the past thought it was failed launch and aborted but you have to be patient, if that makes any seance.
