Re: Unmodified Content Error Solution Guide
Well I got mine working - must have been either not cleaning 2142 out properly the first time, or perhaps the northern strike installation was misleading me - since it was going by so quickly and showing "UPDATE AVAILABLE" at the end, I assumed it didn't work. However removed all traces of the game, and followed the steps given here: uninstall completely, reboot, 2142 dvd, 1.4, ns, 1.4, 1.5. I actually rebooted a few times in between to make extra sure but probably made no difference.
THANKS GUYS! Next time frosty fridays or phrosty thursdays are around, I'm there once again!

Re: Unmodified Content Error Solution Guide
To O'Neill,
Thank you very much for the regedit tip, it worked like a charm for me. EA support was no help at all, reinstall everything they said.
Again thanks,

Re: Unmodified Content Error Solution Guide
So far the "senior" EA customer people have been telling me that. I'm going to keep pursing this error until I have it fixed though.

Re: Unmodified Content Error Solution Guide
Eudiphon, all I can say is good luck.
Am on my second re-format, have tried full uninstalls, formats, regedit, re-patching 1.50...everything. Even bought 2142 deluxe just in case a scratch on the original CD (which has worked fine in the past) was the issue...
The only success I've had is to format the drive, install sound and graphics drivers only, install 2142 deluxe, and run WITHOUT installing antivirus or firewalls. That'll let you play on one out of the two servers running 1.4....the other will still give the unmodified content error.
Looks like the only option is to get my money back!

Re: Unmodified Content Error Solution Guide
I suspect the error, for me, comes from the fact I bought the 2142 deluxe pack. Since the deluxe pack is one pack and not two separate installs, perhaps it installs the game in a different manner that makes it look like a modification or something. I'm not really sure to be honest. I just want it to stop.

Re: Unmodified Content Error Solution Guide
Eudiphon, I feel your pain; I'm in the same boat. I have purchased the download version , BF2142 DVD and the BF2142 Deluxe version. The same results "Unmodified Content Error " Not happy.

Re: Unmodified Content Error Solution Guide
The Deluxe comes with BF2142 + Northern Strike in it. You didn't need to buy BF2142 on it's own.
For those that are still having this issue after trying all the fixes, please post here. Perhaps I can give EA an idea of how many people this issue plagues (at least for TG).

Re: Unmodified Content Error Solution Guide
So far none of the solutions EA has given have helped me. I've tried full manual uninstalls and reinstalls, patching methods, etc. If it's on the the internet, I've tried it.
At this point EA is continuing to give me the run around. They just keep different methods of installing and reinstalling for me to try when it's obviously a software glitch on their part.
EDIT:
I contacted EA, yet again. They think the issue might be a punkbuster one and not an install related one. I'm staying in contact with both EA and punkbuster.Last edited by Eudiphon; 01-22-2009 at 05:55 PM.

Re: Unmodified Content Error Solution Guide
I keep contacting EA, but they keep giving me the run around about to fix this. Basically "Install/Reinstall" instructions. I'm tired of installing and reinstalling....

Re: Unmodified Content Error Solution Guide
Hey All

I'm new here in the forum's but I have used it for it's wealth of information quite a bit.
I had just installed 2142 and, every since 1.50 came out, I totally expected the "Unmodified Content Error". It happens EVERYTIME I reinstall it. The fix by editing the registry version to 1.10 has always worked for me just fine.
The difference with this install is that it's an x64 Vista Ultimate OS. The registry location for 2142 is different then the 32 bit versions:
1. Go to the start menu and select "Run", or hold your Windows key down and press R.
2. In The Box that pops up type "regedit".
3. On the left, click the plus sign beside "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" to expand it.
4. Click the plus sign next to "Software".
5. Click the plus sign next to "Wow6432Node" <----x64 Bit versions. Skip this one if you're running a 32 bit version.
6. Click the plus sign next to "Electronic Arts".
7. Click the plus sign next to "EA GAMES".
8. Then click on the "Battlefield 2142" folder.
9. Look on the right side of the window and find the registry key called Version.
10. Right click on it and select "Modify".
11. Modify it to 1.10
12. Exit the registry editor.
13. Install the latest patch. At this time it's still 1.50.
So the only real difference is one more step with x64, but I thought I would post it in case it hasn't been done yet.
Cheers

We actually had a vista reg key towards the beginning of the thread, but thanks for posting in my guide! Your tip is now more visible to new comers to the thread!

Re: Unmodified Content Error Solution Guide
I'm adding the following here:
No CD/DVD in Drive Error and Vista Users
1) right-click on BF2142.exe
2) go to "Properties"
3) click on "Compatibility" tab
4) uncheck "Run this in compatibility mode"
5) click "Apply" and then "OK"
6) Run your game. You should now not have a "disk not in drive" error.Acreo Aeneas
