    1.5 full
    (edit: this did not work)

Last time I did (this did not work for long)

    HI Sc1ence!!!

Every few maps you say? Even the non-NS maps? That's odd. I've heard a few reports about this and can honestly say it befuddles me. I'll see if I can find any information on the subject.

I have tried everything and I also, like Sc1ence, get the error every few maps. The sad thing, I even bought another copy of BF214 (the deluxe edition) so that i wouldn't get the error and I still do. I HATE EA!!!

Yea, more people is the same boat! Seriously though, I have been dealing with error since ~May. My problems just started randomly. I had taken a little bit of a break from 2142, but left it installed and everything working just fine, or so I thought.

Have the same issue, close to beginning of every round I crash due to "modified content error". I usually can get right back in again by connecting again. Annoying error for sure.

Re: Unmodified Content Error Solution Guide

Happens to me too, mostly when a round has ended and it gets to the load screen and unless I click on join game straight away it will back out and display the error, I have updated punkbuster, so maybe that will solve it.

EDIT: Played a few rounds and it seems to be working fine, I think the key is, if the error flares up again it may be because a punk buster file gets corrupt over time, so try running PBsetup again and see if that works.

pbsetup is a *.zip file, what works for me is to extract the file to the pb folder on the C drive where 2142 is installed and run pbsetup from there.

    EDIT2: Nope, it's back!

Yes Oneill121. And interesting MrMojay, for me, I always crash if I click join game to fast. Not content error, but my game will freeze up or I get connection error. But if I wait a bit I can go around that.

This might help some of you guys still playing the game.

    Uninstall the game. Post #1

    Install the game.

    "Install BF2142 -> Install 1.4 -> Install Northern Strike -> Install 1.4 -> Install 1.5 INCREMENTAL"

There seems to be a problem with 1.5 full and Northern Strike.
If you only have 2142 it shouldn't matter.

    You should also update Punkbuster.

Re: Unmodified Content Error Solution Guide

hey guys, I think I found the exact error after a few tries... sorry for my bad english, i'm spanish. I'm gone crazy with this f****g error "modified version" so I downloaded every updates from EA's website and after instalations of patchs I saw one by one what changes in the registry.

So, I saw that the line of version of BF2142 (specified the rute on this post) every changes to correct version until the patch 1.40. What I'm trying to say is that you install patch 1.06 the line version changes to 1.06, with 1.25 the line changes in 1.25, and in the patch 1.40 the line change to 1.28s, so if u install 1.40 the patch runs ok, but the patch of 1.40 to 1.50 incremental and 1.50 full search in line version the "real version", so we change the version mannually, ok, but then the game detect modified version.

All of this is an error of the patch 1.40

Crazy reply and I'm sure I don't explain it very well, sorry

hope appears soon a solution!!! Nothing works for me

Re: Unmodified Content Error Solution Guide

All I can suggest is try again. I had several issues running installers due to wrong version, and had to competely remove everything relating to 2142 (Even registry listings) before the installer would run.

Why not try the FULL 1.50 patch instead and skip this 1.40 business?
