Punkbuster?
Hey all,
I'm having an issue where I am constantly getting booted from the main TG server by Punkbuster. Does this mean that I have been banned for some reason or is it something else?
I haven't played all that this past week and this just started happening late last night.

what exactly is it saying when your kicked?
it is possible that for some reason your Punkbuster is not auto updating, if that is the case you may have to do manual updates but before you go that route post what it says when your kicked please. If you want to try manual update I will add the link below, just download the manual PB updater and run it easy as can be.

It simply says "Punkbuster". I don't think its any sort of issue with the server being full because there was room when I got kicked.
I did reinstall 2142 two days ago... might that be the source of the problem?

Usually reinstalling fixes problems like this :/. You do realize the server fills at two less than the capacity to allow the supporting member kick script to work.

Anyway to fix punkbuster problems go to www.evenbalance.com. Try updating manually and using the punkbuster update program. Are you joining when there's only 2 spots left? TG's server has a script that leaves 2 slots open at all times so that Supporting Members can get in and get a slot. Try joining when it's 45/48 or less, not 46/48.
This also happens if you don't join a squad within 90 seconds of gametime.
Do either of these describe your situation?

Hey mate, the most likely problem is that you have not updated PB.
Go to http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php.
Download and install pbsetup.exe.
Run the punkbuster updater for BF2142.
That should most likely fix your problems.
If you're still having problems after that, there could be two problems:
1. You're getting kicked for a supporting member. The server is full at 46/48. If there are 46 players already on and you try to join, you will be kicked. If there are 45, you join and then there are 46, and a supporting member tries to join, you may be kicked to make room for him.
2. You're breaking a lot of rules and getting kicked by an admin. If you're suspecting that may be the case, read over our rules and SOPs, and Contact An Admin.
If none of those are the cause, I'd recommend a fresh install. Though, as I said, the first one is the most likely cause of your problems.Fight!

Go to your PB folder in your the 2142 folder and delete it. After that, use the website Zho gave you and update PB. That should install a new pb folder and all its updates.

I noticed it when we tried seeding the public server, he got kicked after a few minutes.

Thanks alot all. Yeah for some reason Punkbuster didn't auto-update so I just updated like you guys recommended and it seems to have fixed the problem.

Remember though that it might no auto update now so you may want to run the manual updater every few days etc. I as well have to do manual updates on all my games using PB so i run the updates every few days or as needed.

Nope, mate, that's just overkill. I'd only run it if you notice something wrong -- ie. unusual server kicks with PB messages. Every few days would get to be a pain in the neck. Originally Posted by Faldim
