Hello people!
Iam having a serious problem with my BF2142 on my Vista machine.
SYSTEM:
Vista 32bit SP1
4gb RAM
geForce 9800GTX 512mb
History / PROBLEM:
I have installed, updated with the newest patch (2.50) and installed northeren strike on my vista machine.
I can login to my account, see all my buddys, and read all the news in the buttom of the screen.
BUT i cannot find any servers. The servers does not appear.
I have also tried to use gamespy arcade, find a server, and try to connect through gamespy, it will not connect either. If i copy paste the IP:PORT from GS to BF2142 i cant find the server.

Whats wierd is, that i can find and connect and refresh servers my laptop that uses XP
Hope someone can help me, it is very annoying

i have also tried to reinstall
and BTW iam using DirectX 10

have you made sure it is not being blocked by the firewall?

Yes.. i dont think it is beeing blocked by the firewall..
I only use the windows firewall, and if a turn it off, it does not change anything..

The only other thing I can think of is I know for 2142 to work on Vista you have to be running it logged in as administrator, with full admin rights and you have to jump through a bunch of hoops to do it.
However, I'm not completely sure. I refuse to run Vista right now because of all of the problems with it.

To get it working on my Vista installation, I had to do the following :-
- Right click the shortcut
- Click on to 'properties'
- Click on the 'Compatibility' tab
- Tick the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for' box
- Select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the drop down list below
- Tick the box titled 'Run this program as an administrator'
- Click OK
Whenever you run BF2142 now, Vista will prompt you with a dialogue box telling you that "An unidentified program wants to run on your computer". You do not need to worry about this, it is just a standard warning that Vista issues whenever a program attempts to run under escalated privilege levels. Just click allow.
I hope that solves your problem.

Also tried that, selecting XP, the problem is, that it does not find the CD then. It says that i schould put in the CD in the drive and press OK, even if the CD is on the drive..

Unfortunately, I cannot help you further with that since I (stupidly) bought the downloadable version thinking (stupidly) that it would be as smooth an experience as downloading content with Steam.

Actually, upon saying that, it just occurred to me. Have you tried running the installer under administrative privileges and seeing if that makes a difference?
