Re: Mic problems ingame
That answers the first question I was going to ask - what OS do you use?
Go into Control Panel, click on 'sound', click the 'recording' tab and make sure that the Creative SB X-Fi microphone is selected as your default device (you do this by right-clicking on the SB X-Fi microphone icon and selecting 'Set as Default Device').
I suspect that your on-board microphone is being selected as your default recording device by Vista.

Re: Mic problems ingame
Bring up the 'start menu' and at the bottom where it says "start search", type 'run' and press return.
You'll find that the search functionality of the start menu quickly becomes your new best friend (and is, in my opinion, the only good thing Vista has to offer so far). If you know even part of the name of a program, you can type it in and you'll find the start menu displaying suggestions of programs / files of whatever you are searching for (try typing '2142' into it and see what it displays).

Re: Mic problems ingame
Photometric is correct, but not necessarily in your case.
I have my onboard soundcard enabled and my Audigy 4 also enabled. I have no problems like this.
I used to own a sennheiser headset. Whenever I used the mute switch on the wire, after turning it back on it would take around 30 seconds to unmute itself...which was very strange considering that it was just a wire breach switch and not a USB headset...nothing digital involved but it still delayed the unmuting massively :S
Maybe this is happening? Are you using the mute switch?Stay Awesome!
