Mic problems ingame
Hello everyone...
Here comes a weird problem I have now. I recently got my self a new soundcard. Since I didn't want to keep playing with my onboard one anymore.
So I got my self a rather expensive one, hoping that the ingame sound will improve. It did. The sound is extremely accurate and awesome ingame.
BUT! I constanly loose my mic midgame. I keep playing for a few rounds and suddenly it is gone. Simply gone. I can speak on TS. Everything is actually fine. But the game lost the mic. Which is especially annoying since I SL a lot. And now I have to leave my team beaucse of this. I can't play without a mic
It isn't a problem with my connection to the server. I can reconnect and the mic is still gone. If I click on the audio-options ingame and try to test my mic its gone. I cant even test it anymore.
Anyone else had a problem like that? Anyone has an idea how to solve it?
Things done:
Reinstalled the soundcard and the headset.
Updated the soundcard and headset to the lasted drivers.
Soundcard: Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer
Headset: Sennheiser PC161
Thank you for any input you can give me!

Re: Mic problems ingame
I remember that sometime the game mutes the mic while in game for some reason but I do not know the solution but that could get you started on the right path.
USB headsets are awesome, have never had a problem with odd little issues like theseReapator, overlord of ponies

Re: Mic problems ingame
No not USB. The standard way for sounds
pluged in directly in the sound card.
I keep on trying ...
thanks for the input so far."Imagination is more important than knowledge" - Albert Einstein

Re: Mic problems ingame
As for German, well, it was my first language. My mom is a German major so all our au pairs were German. I picked out the key words to read it but I can't speak it anymore. If you talk really really really slowly I might pick it up.
And glad everything worked out.

Re: Mic problems ingame
Bigeye,
You need to disable the onboard sound in the system BIOS. I think you are having a conflict in the system because of the onboard sound and the add on card working at the same time and the computer is confused.Without darkness, how could we measure the light?

Re: Mic problems ingame
Ah... I apologize for providing bad information on your problem when I was responding to Bigeye's question.
However, Bigeye said he was using onboard mic and add on card output. The only way the onboard mic would work is if the o/b sound is enabled.
Can you run the dxdiag and post results here? It might help in troubleshooting.Without darkness, how could we measure the light?
