Mic issue
Hey, I have this dirt-cheap mic: www1.dealextreme.com/productimages/sku_4468_1.jpg
My sound is currently being picked up by the mic inside of my laptop but I don't know how to switch to the mic.
Any ideas?

Re: Mic issue
Go to control panel, sounds and audio devices, and be sure that the external mic is set to default. I would say just check the sort of thing on the audio tab of BF2142.
Hope that helped.

Re: Mic issue
Ah, a fellow Dr.
I'll give that a go but don't recall any options for 'external mic'.

Re: Mic issue
You might try the volume settings and see if two mic's are listed. Then turn down the volume for the internal mic.
By the way this would not be the in-game setting but the control panel volume settingLast edited by muiriddin; 10-08-2008 at 11:58 AM. Reason: added last sentence

Re: Mic issue
Thanks, muiriddin. I'll give that a go when I switch over to the PC side of my MAC.

Re: Mic issue
I've checked and re-checked the myriad sound settings and still no luck. I saw only one mic volume option.
I've even tried what I think is my sound card-specific settings (Realtek HD Sound Effect Manager). It showed very similar options but nothing promising - apart from the fact that when I plug my mic in, it recognizes it as a 'Line In' device.
Not sure what that means.
