    Question About VoIP

Hey guys, I play on the TG servers all the time, and I use my recently received mic (thanks Santa). However, today, I was heading onto the server and I joined/started a squad and I realized that little icon next to your name with the speaker that looks <))) sort of like that did not show up, and did not enable me to use my VoIP abilities. Does anyone know why this is? It is starting to bother me that I cannot use my VoIP to communicate with my squad members in game.
Please respond back as soon as possible. Thanks.

    Re: Question About VoIP

Run the VoIP program in the Battlefield 2142 directory again and see if that fixes it. You may also want to look in the Audio menu to make sure it's enabled if you haven't already. If that's not it, does the mic use a standard 3.5mm jack or a USB connector? If it's USB, maybe the game is no longer recognising it for whatever reason, so you might want to try reinstalling the software.

    Re: Question About VoIP

This happens to me pretty often lately, and usually all it takes is restarting 2142 to fix it. Not really ideal, but it works.

If it's a USB mic, make sure you have it plugged in before you start 2142, at least I had to do that with my old USB headset.

    Re: Question About VoIP

I just had this happen to me earlier tonight, after about a minute into a round (my mic was working up until then). All it took was what Lorax suggested, restarting BF2142.

Another thing to note, if you are using a USB mic: always connect it to the same USB port.

    Re: Question About VoIP

Alright guys, thanks for the replies, but I dont think that its either of those, because...
After the first time I noticed it didnt work, I disconnected from the server and went into my Audio Settings, it was all the same, VoIP on, mic volume/boost and all those settings were the same. So I tried again and it still didnt work. I restarted bf2142 and went onto the same server, it still didnt work, however, I went on another server and it seemed to work. Could it have been something with the server?

    Re: Question About VoIP

Some servers do not have voip enabled, I don't know why since voip is what makes or breaks this game.

    Re: Question About VoIP

Well, I tried again, reset my Audio settings and put them back where I had them. I went onto the TG server, and the <))) still didn't appear. It appears for others, so maybe it's my account or something? Or something in the server got changed.
