Re: Battlefield crashes before starting
Have you made any changes to the program itself? Or have you updated one of you drivers lately? Anything that changed since it last worked?

Re: Battlefield crashes before starting
Is the old res of 1024 x 789 supported in your new screen, if not that may crash 214 as it tries to set for that res
right click on your desktop shortcut icon and goto properties
add to the end of the existing text the widescreen plus new screen res you want, and make sure its a screen res that your desktop can go into for windows
eg add something like +Widescreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900
this is my one
"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142Launcher.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +Widescreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900

Re: Battlefield crashes before starting
Just a quick question... what is the refresh rate of your new monitor? If it is less than 60 hertz.... well you're S.O.L.
Some new monitors run at 59 hertz. The problem is that the loading movie requires 60+. The game itself will run, just not the intro animation. If your monitor does not support 60 hertz or higher, you can do one of two things.
You can start the game with your old monitor plugged in then switch after the load animations, or you could find the "no loading animation" hack and run that. (not sure where to find it, but Google is your friend)
If your monitor does support 60+ hertz, then one thing you could try would be to delete the bf2142 folder in your "My Documents" folder. This will clear out all of your setting and force the game to launch in default settings. You will need to reset all of your graphic, sound and keyboard settings, but it has worked for me in the past. Just make sure you back up any screen shots that you have taken before deleting the folder.
