Losing Connection - this s'posed to happen?
Hey, I've been having a problem where the game comes up with the 'lost connection to server' dialogue and boots me back to the menu. Now, I've been attributing this to the autokicker, but sometimes far as I can tell (game menu and gametracker site) there should be enough free slots...
Are these things just being crazy and it really is down to paying customers only, or is there something I need to fix?
For reference, I'm running Vista and a Centrino 2 based laptop rig (runs it just fine, most of the time)

What Reaper said is definitely the first thing to check, but it can also happen when EA's servers are taking a dump.

no, though the wired network here is kinda ramshackle - my machine connects through another machine, which connects to the router, which connects to the cable modem

Can you not plug your machine directly into the router?

Re: Losing Connection - this s'posed to happen?
I too have this happen to me on occasion. I can be playing for a good while 1+ hours and all of a sudden I get a "Connection to the server has been lost message. After it happens the first time it will start to happen every 20 to 30 minutes after that. Once it gets to happening to frequently I will log off and shut my cpmouter down. After an hour or two of doing something else I can start my computer and log in without being kicked for quite a while before I start losing connection again.
My connection goes straight from my comp to a router. If needed I can post my specs later.|TG-82| C.T._EMRIE

Re: Losing Connection - this s'posed to happen?
I've been experiencing the 'Lost connection to server' problem also. When I get back on it's using an assignment to the other side.
On the other hand this problem may be attributed to local network providers giving us 'Gamers' the boot everyone now and then to free up space for other internet users. I've noticed that I usually lose connection during the late evenings when internet usuage is at it's highest.
