Re: Problems
Interesting, I too have been having problems with my game freezing up sometime during gameplay. Been doing this over the last 3 or 4 days. I run a PC not a MAC. I've tried various reinstalls of both software(BF2142, Catalyst Control Panel, Creative Audio Launcher, etc.) and drivers (video and sound). No success. I've even updated PB client files. No go.
I've noticed no problems when playing in singleplayer mode, so I have ruled out my computer, drivers and software. So, I am looking at connection issues right now. It must be a network problem. BF2142 is freezing up on my system regardless of what server I am on. I was thinking it was some problem on my end (cables, router, modem, ISP, etc.) but then after reading through these posts I am persuaded to looking at a problem with the EA server. Or maybe it is a PB related issue on the network. Anyway, I am interested in knowing how many others are having game freeze problems recently. I'm not really sure if there is anything I can do to remedy this problem. It is happening on every round I have played. Sometimes it freezes at the spawn screen. Other times it freezes midway through a round. Sometimes near the end. It is random. Feedback anyone?Voilà! Re: Problems
PC user....
I have spent the last 2 days constantly getting freezes. The only way I could get a game in was to go with another of my soldiers for a few rounds.
I don't know if this will help you but try it.....can't hurt for a half hour or so.
You may be able to switch back after 1 round, it may take a few.
This is all that worked out of all the "fixes" I tried!

Re: Problems
This is not limited to MAC users. I too am suffering this. It all started Monday night and is affecting both 2142 and BF2. The EA forums are alight with gamers having the same problem and all starting at the same time. Why some are afflicted while others are not is unknown. At the time of this writing, neither EA nor Evenbalance (PB) have commented on the problem.
I personally started having this problem Monday night when PR CTD. Now every time I try to play any vBF2 or its mods (PR, POE) I CTD within 3 minutes of joining a server. Tuesday morning, I was attempting to help seed the 2142 server and randomly between 2min. and 20min. the 2142 client will freeze. Thank God I have a macro key that kills the 2142 process.
There is one possible solution. A PR user has uninstalled/reinstalled all of the Punkbuster services and his CTD problems went away. This process is done by using a program called PBsvc. I am going to attempt this solution when I get home ~6pm EST. If I have success, I will post the process. I will also attempt to find the PBsvc version for our suffering MAC users at that time.

Re: Problems
I'm surprised. This is a big coincidence then. There have been many posts on various mac forums and apple discussions itself that most, if not all, games on mac have been disabled by the latest quicktime update on Saturday.
How can it be only some people who are having the problem if it's a universal PB issue or what not?In Order to Dance

Re: Problems
I'm just suggesting that beyond the quicktime incident, there is another problem that started on Monday night and it is affecting both PC & Mac users.
