Re: Problems
Occasionally this can happen when the server crashes. I'm guessing you had to to a hard boot? Happens to all of us occasionally.

Re: Problems
same here man.
I'm guessing your using a mac probably? You start the game up, join the server then it just freezes, right?
I've been having that problem all day. I've tried reinstalling the game but it didn't help.
I think it might have something to do with Punkbuster, but I'm not sure.“Diplomacy is the art of letting the other person have your way”

Re: Problems
Are you guys using the mac version of BF2142? I'm curious because I'm on the mac too, but I dual boot into windows specially for BF2142 (windows version). The kind of crashes I'm getting is unbelievable. Blue screen of death for every tiny sneeze: sometimes at the end of map loading; when I adjust the volume; clicking too many times in the middle of a shoot-out; pressing alt-tab etc. I get at least 2 BSOD every time I play, and that's when I take care not to do those things known to crash the system. Drives me nuts.
Re-installing did not help.
I run L4D in boot camp too, and I never get problems.
Yes, unfortunately, boot camp is only available on 10.5. So if you do intend to go ahead with it, you'll probably have to cough up $$ to upgrade to Leopard, and hopefully you'll find your original windows installation CD so you won't have to buy a new copy.

Re: Problems
I get at least one BSOD just about every time I play. From what I've read--and there isn't much out there about it--it's probably something to do with some tweaking utility running in the background on the machine. If you have a utility for RAID management, overclocking, or the like, try turning it off when you play.
PS--Might should move this thread to the tech. support forum. Admin?

Re: Problems
Hey fellow Mac users. Just wanted to confirm that yet another is also experiencing the same problem. It started for me on Saturday (Jan 24). Generally, BF has been fairly stable, so something definitely changed. I've been hunting for clues about the source of the problem on the Web, but haven't come up with anything. I do think that Quicktime 7.6 was installed by Software Update recently, so that's a possibility. I've also read that the iMac is especially vulnerable to graphics card issues. What hardware are you guys on? I also wondered about my third party extensions, but since y'all are experiencing the same symptoms, it's probably a good bet that the problem is in-game. I'll report back in here if I find anything relevant.
