    SLI dual video cards

Does SLI mode work for BF2142? It's enabled in BIOS now and also in the Nvideo control comsole. I recently installed another video card, same as original (EVGA 512-8600 GTS) and game does not seem to be displayed any different!

Anyone else got a dual video card setup?

Dual video cards don't necessarily make games look better, more as they're to make games run much smoother.

I can't really help much, seeing as I don't have a dual video card setup, nor have advanced computer hardware knowledge. Sorry I can't be of much help.

I used to have dual 8800GT SLI setup before I switched to a GTX280. It definitely made a significant framerate difference for me.

In older games such as Battlefield 2142, you are unlikely to see the benefits of SLI.

    Re: SLI dual video cards

I have a dual SLI setup and I don't don't notice any difference with BF2142. I have switched back and forth between dual SLI and single card and really don't notice any difference at all. After a period of time, my video starts to blank in and out on frames, I thought this was due to the dual SLI so I switched back to single GPU and the problem still happens from time to time. I only ever notice this on BF2142. With Crysis, COD4 and other games, I never have a problem and the games run really smooth. Again, it seems to be a testament of EA's poor code quality.

It leads me to conclude that BF2142 is not optimized to leverage SLI just as it is not optimized to leverage multi-core CPU's.

You may want to ask the Oracle this question.

    Re: SLI dual video cards

Actually, the dual SLI setup seems to run more smoothly than in single mode. Tho I have to keep both cards cooled down as they tend to get hotter having to run graphics and talk to each other. If my MoBo gets hotter than 110F then the frame rate in BF2142 tends to slow down. My recent purchase of a Thermaltake Cyclo PCI slot fan and placed just under the video card where the card's fan is discharging hot air seems to pull out the excess heat a lot better than just having a fan blowing air around inside.

I'm gonna run in this configuration for a month before going back to single mode to see if my gameplay is being affected. Before this setup I was usually in the top 15% of the scoreboard.

I do like the looks of 2142 graphics at medium level settings. It makes gameplay more realistic this way. Tho it gives me the willies looking at the windows and not be able to see my reflection in it!
