Mouse & keyboard freezes on the mapo screen at start of game

This is wierd. Im was running BF2142 when it crashed, rebooted the system and loaded the game, but when I enter the map at the start of the game on either single/multi player, I cannot move the mouse which is locked in the centre of screen, nor use any keyboard commands. I had to create a new character, but again after almost 2 weeks the same thing has happened.
Anyone know what the cause is and how to fix it?
I can get back to windows XP (ctrl + alt + del) but the game remains the same. I can hear the audio and see the game running in the background of the map.
I use razor lycosa & lachesis, these were running fine, then two weeks later this.....
I've disabled spyware/anti virus, uninstalled & reinstalled, drivers are updated. I thought it was wierd, but to happen twice??? Surely something is causing this.
Anyone have nay ideas please?

Problem solved......thanks to previous input.
BF2142 was resetting my keys to "blank" so no wonder I had absolutely no control of my desktop once the game was loaded because the in game keys were all set to "blank".
I reset to default keys in the bf2142 menu... and whola!!!

Sorry I just caught this--I had the same problem not two days ago and found the same resolution. Odd that it's happening to multiple people suddenly, though. It had never happened to me before this past weekend.

Yeah this happened to a friend of mine. For some reason a file corrupts and all of your key info is just gone. restoring default controls in the options menu fixes it.
