BF2142pace.exe error
I have royally messed up, first I downloaded 2142 from EA link, then on start up it gave me the BF2142pace.exe, then I looked for help and went to many different sites with different answers. I heard that manual uninstallation might work (like it did with many of my other troublesome non-Vista compatible games), so I went to EA tech support. I scrolled through and it was basically telling me to select the folders and hit 'delete' so I did that. Then I decided to start on the combined 4hour dl, but when I got to EA link it appeared that the game was still installed... except for the patches. It had a play button where the install button should have been next to 2142 in my games list. So I tried reinstalling the patch, but when it finishes there are no folders for it to place the files, because they were deleted. Now I realize that because I manually uninstalled it it didn't officially register with EA link and now I don't have my 30 dollar game.
Help!

Hey PCgamerdude, seeing as how you are recently new to the forums i would like to say greetings, and hope you enjoy TG like the rest of us.
Now down to business. I think i know what your problem is (although your post is a little confusing, no offense). I encountered the same problem when I needed to manually uninstall a game of mine and had the same issue trying to install it. I'll explain it graphically.
so take this for instance, this should be where your game folders are located or something similar
C:/program files/ Ea games/ BF2142/ bf 2142 files
(if this isn't exactly correct, forgive me, i haven't use a PC in a while)
Now i take it that you deleted the "bf 2142 files", but left the "BF2142" main folder.
This is what is causing the problem. The installation program for some reason recognizes the "BF2142" folder and thinks it is still installed, even though the files are gone.
to fix it all you need to do is delete "BF2142" the folder where all the files you deleted were located. You should then be able to install it.

I went through and deleted everything that was Battlefield 2142 related, other than EA link.
still nothing
When I tried manually uninstalling BF, I just went and deleted the whole EA fold because BF2142 was the only game in it.

Sorry, I had a senior moment!
I went to the control panel, unintsall programs, BF2142, and got rid of it from there.
It works now, See you out there on the BattleField!
...now for my 4 hour reinstallation...

Well, I still have the BF2142pace.exe error, any suggestions?
I've tried adding BF2142 to the DEP but I either did it wrong or it didn't work.Last edited by PCgamerdude; 02-26-2009 at 06:08 PM.

Well it has to be my graphics card. I've already tried adding BF2142 to the DEP list, checked my monitor's refresh rate (and set it to 75, my eyes hurt less now :P), and tried changing the compatability for the programs.
Also if anyone can, could I get a refresher course when I get the game working? I haven't played in a few years and I don't have a mic so I think I'll need a little help.Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo. is a grammatically correct sentence, TAKE THAT GRAMMAR.
