    Re: Router Trouble

If you have a normal ping while on the server there shouldnt be a problem. I have it too sometimes. Especially for the favourites. I believe its (once again) a bug in the game. As long as you can join the server and have no ping problems while playing. You should be fine.

Ways to join the server NOT through favourites:
    Join on a friend!
I noticed that you can join on a friend (even if the server is red next to the name) it works without any problems.
Next to your friendslist is a white long arrow. Click on it and it will display all you friends and the servers they are playing on. Next to the servers is a little icon. If you click on it you join your friend on the server.

    Server browser:
Click on Mulitplayer and click on "advanced". Make sure that the settings on the bottom let you find the TG server (eg.: autobalance is NOT checked) Type "tacticalgamer" (without quotes) as "servername" and hit enter.

    Join via IP:
The IP for the first server: 64.34.163.112:17567
The IP for the second server: 64.34.184.33:17567
Click on Mulitplayer and click on "advanced". On the bottem right corner it says: "Connect to IP" Click on it and enter the IP.

I've been having the same problem as Latina! I've done each of Bigeye's suggestions but had the same problem. Any other ideas?

Clarify the problem. You're on the server, in game. The score sheet tells you your ping is 40, but it's playing like its 1000?

Oh gosh guys...I'm sorry for not coming back in and letting you guys know the problem has been solved. It was the fan to the CPU...had completely stopped. The fan is always so quite that I didn't notice it wasn't working properly. Thank you all for your willingness to help. Hugs, Latina

    Re: Router Trouble

Well...Latina seems to have found her answer...my PC is only 6 months old...doubt it is a fan issue.

I usually have a ping around 50...but the lag is so bad I can't play! I can't look around to scope out the landscape and if I do, I turn to far and then die. Kinda think it is my router...it's about 4-5 years old. It's a Linksys G router.

I use at&t DSL and have been playing with no issues for months. Last week, this problem began to start. Since then, I've tried playing different servers, different days and different time of day to no avail.

I'm thinking about getting a new router but don't want to if I don't have to (if there is another solution).

Would uninstalling BF and reinstalling help? Any help is appreciated. thanks.

    Re: Router Trouble

Are you sharing the DSL with a home phone? If so listen in on phone for pops and static. That is a sure sign of problems on at&t side. Maybe the phone line has a bad connection outside.

    Re: Router Trouble

Can you differentiate between an internet problem and a hardware/pc problem?

Test on single player to make sure it's not a hardware issue. Is your ping still 50? If your ping hasn't changed, I doubt an internet problem, in my experience.

    Re: Router Trouble

As LogicalHarm mentioned, first test it on sp to see if it is a hardware issue; if not you could try plugging your PC in directly to the modem instead of through the router (if possible), just to eliminate/verify whether or not the router is the cause of your problem. If this still doesn't work, try unplugging your modem and router for 30 seconds then plugging it back in again. Also try doing an ip flush, it helps me sometimes when I'm having latency issues.

    1. Start, Run. Type in "cmd" without the " ".
    2. Type "ipconfig /release".
    3. Type "ipconfig /renew".

Reboot your computer and see if there are any improvements.

    Re: Router Trouble

Well...played single player and things were fine...then went to multiplayer. First part of round was fine but then it started with the lag again. Did the suggestions mentioned above...any other thoughts?

    Re: Router Trouble

Looks like it's not the router then if you plugged it directly into the modem and it didn't resolve the problem. Must be software...maybe try doing the thorough uninstall/reinstall process found in the "Unmodified content error" sticky and see if that helps. Also manually uninstall and reinstall + update Punkbuster.

    TC Migs,

Are you playing over wireless and with Vista? If so, switch to a wired connection since currently there is a "lag spike" issue with Vista SP1 and some wireless cards every 30 seconds to 2 minutes.
