There is a problem with your connection
Hi, bought 2142 a week ago and havnt been able to connect to any servers but once since, spent hours trying to fix it. After the map loads, and i click on join game the game screen comes on but either before class select or immediatly after it I get "there is a problem with your connection".
I have the demo and it worked fine till I got the retail version, btw i have deluxe.
I've tried 1-updating pb,2-turning off firewall and antivirus,3-running in compatibility(i have vista) and as an administrator.4-turning off uac 5-turning off 2nd processor,6-turning off voip,7-i have updated to 1.5 8-i'm not using wireless 9-i read something once bout reseting modem but i cant find it now, not sure how to do that 10- im on comcast, pretty sure its not them as i usta play bf2 with them, but on a different pc, my bf2 has the same problem, but not the bf2 demo. that's all i can remember
Anyone havew any ideas?

Re: There is a problem with your connection
there is an order to installing and patching in 2142. There are several posts in this forum that discusses how to install it and the order to the patches. The current 2142 patch is v1.5 and should be the last thing you install.

Re: There is a problem with your connection
Have a look at this link, it is for an error which you are not seeing, but it contains the sequence to install BF2142 and NS. This may help as it is good at discussing various issues and how to reinstall in different formats.

The first option of deleting BF2142 folder in my documents and reinstall patch 1.5 likely won't fix your problem. But the other methods should work.
Basically for me, I had to edit the registry to indicate version 1.10 (as written up in the post), install patch 1.40, then install NS, then install patch 1.40 again, then install patch 1.5.
this should fix your install. If you still can't connect, then the issue is outside of BF2142 and you need to look at firewall software or your router settings.
You can also review Tweak Guides write up, it is excellent:
