Question Can't connect to master server (Mac version)

Hi guys, I have a question:

I just installed the mac version of BF2142 (finally had enough of the blue screens on bootcamp). The problem is I can't seem to get past the login screen. I'd type in my username, click "login" and it keeps saying "Connecting to master server".

For the few mac users here, how do you setup the game? Do I need to do any port forwarding stuffs? I've never had problems with the windows version of the game on WinXP in bootcamp, so it surprises me that I can't login on the mac version.

I'm on a macbook pro, just updated the game to v1.50, connected wirelessly to Time Capsule, which is hard-wired to a gigaset modem for internet. I use the exact same setup when I play the windows version.

Any help will be much appreciated.

    hey pinky!

as far as i know you dont have to do any port-forwarding it should just work straight up, well it does here in england! I run bf2142 in both XP and two weeks ago I got it for mac and I had no problems. sorry for you

I found with my mac on OSX I got little or slow web connection if I hadn't got the right DNS server addresses set up. I was always having to click links many times for them to work and web pages would take ages to load or partially load.

Try finding out what your DNS addresses are by going into your router and type them into 'Network Preferences' . . . . 'Advanced' . . . . 'DNS' press the little + and add them in, there should be two.

Hope this helps, sounds like there might be some sort of connection timeout or something......

    Thanks Fred for your help!

I figured out what the problem was (imagine my relief, cos I was thinking "holy cow, i just blew 50 precious bucks on a game that doesn't work on my laptop!"). It wasn't the DNS, but I'm glad to learn about the new tip as well

Anyway, the problem was another program on my mac (peerguardian) that was somehow interfering with BF2142. I uninstalled it and now everything's fine and dandy. And now, back to the battlefield! (without the windows crashes )

Oh you'll still get crashes, and a lot of them. But macs being macs, it just cuts out to desktop with no problem. No force quit or task manager.

We need to set up a group for mac owners if theres not one already! We can be the cream of the BF2142 crop!

Oh, I don't mind desktop crashes. I'll do anything to avoid the blue screen of death
And if it makes you laugh, I'm actually still playing the windows version of the game, BSOD and all. For some reason the the game lags horribly in mac OS even at the lowest settings. Until I figure out why, I'm stuck with windows...
