Messed up Graphical Overlay
Anyone know fix for this? I haven't played BF2142 for 6months because of broken DVD drive, now when I finally come back I have this weird graphical overlay (see screenshots in attachements) that is blocking the view.
It's not that bad when you "get used to it" after few minutes of gameplay and manage to ignore it, but every time I explosive detonates right next to me (RDX, Grenades, rockets etc) the glitch gets more intense and my screen goes completely black. Also, I'd like to do some more BF2142 VOIP Teamwork videos like I used to, without the bugged overlay screen...
I googled around and saw thread in the NVIDIA forums which led me to believe it might be the newest graphics driver causing this. I would love to download older version but that would mean installing the newest drivers every time I want to play some new game (most of the new games dont work correctly if you dont have latest drivers) I'd have to install the new drivers again, which isn't too nice.
What I have tried so far is to delete the shader cache and change settings. None of those didn't work.
Weirdest part of this clitch is that if I play some other game and quit while in game screen I have the game screen as the graphical glitch overlay. For example, last time I played BF2142 I had TF2 snipers back blocking the whole screen in the respawn room and one time the L4D ending screen.
Restarting didn't work to reset it.

Re: Messed up Graphical Overlay
turn off AA in game and I'll pretty much guarantee that it will solve your problem, you may also have to over ride the game settings with the nvidia control panel

Re: Messed up Graphical Overlay
I found better fix that doesn't mean turning graphics down.
Playing in windowed mode fixes this completely. Just add +fullscreen 0 to the shortcut line and you should be all set!
Compare:
EDIT: Btw, while I was at it I fixed it so that BF2142 would support my wide screen:
My shortcut now says: H:\CD-PELIT\BF2142\BF2142.exe +fullscreen 0 +widescreen 1 +szx 1900 +szy 1020|TG| Kebab-Kastike reporting for duty. | Why? Tubes! The internet is tubes!

Re: Messed up Graphical Overlay
I had the same thing; updating my nVidia drivers solved it.

Re: Messed up Graphical Overlay
I had this and it continued even with the latest drivers out recently
you can set AA from the desktop nvidia control panel and set AA on for 2142 app, this will override AA being off in the 2142 menus
