New Soundcard makes 2142 studder & crash
Till now I used my Onboard Chip to run my Sound. All fine and dandy but it was really cheap and I could NOT record game sound with Fraps. Also no newer drivers would work with it.
So I bought a Soundblaster Audigy for a few bucks.
When I have it in my PC everything runs fine like L4D, TF2, Eve, etc. But once I fire up 2142 the AUDIO settings wonīt find my Hardware. Then when I run in Software Emulation I get studdering maybe 20~ish mins into the Round. Sometimes it even crashes. The studdering starts out slight... then forced me down to liek 2 FPS per second. A game restart will fix it always so itīs not a heat problem.
So well for the sake of 2142 I had to plug that card out again. I tried a lot but maybe someone of you knows something.

Re: New Soundcard makes 2142 studder & crash
Well this won't help you much, but i have the Soundblaster GO X-FI USB. It's an external USB stick kind of soundcard. And on it i can run BF2142 with hardware and high settings on fine. Even EAX is on. I don't know about fraps though.
So to me it seems your problem has to be driver or a compatibilty issue somewhere, because it works for me with my simple little usb stick soundcard!

Stop bragging abuot your USB stick card lol It works fine with my cheapstick onboard, too. But I wanted to have Fraps record ingame sound.

Re: New Soundcard makes 2142 studder & crash
I had this problem way back when 2142 came out. For me it was something about the Audigy not working well with the onboard USB. The workaround was to hook all peripherals off a USB hub connected to a USB PCI card.
