Graphical Overlay Glitch
This seems to be a software issue. I tried updating my nvidia drivers, re-installing the game and changing my graphic settings from high to low. The problem always comes back the first time I try to play. It appears as soon as I click 'join.' I get a weird overlay that covers about half of the screen. If I go and reset the video options and then reload it works fine. At one point in time instead of dots I got the album artwork from a Primus album instead. Very odd. Have a look and any help would be much appreciated.

What are your system specs?
Also, try deleting your local bf2142 profile (found in my documents\Battlefield 2142\profiles\00x where x is the profile of your soldier experiencing the problem), it's usually not deleted during an uninstall. Or, if you don't want to do that, try creating a new soldier and see if the problem persists.

Creating a new profile did fix the problem, loaded up on the first time without any overlay. I would be interested in knowing exactly what would be causing the problem in the one profile. I'll take a look at it.

Something corrupted. Just delete the profile of your main soldier and let 2142 rebuild it from scratch. You'll have to redo any customized keys and settings, but that doesn't take too long. Originally Posted by mosesdark

I think this is the nvidia problem with 2142 and AA
turn off AA in the game video options and test again
then if you want AA back, then from your desktop open the nvidia control centre and set up AA to on and to override the game settings

Actually Silver, I am having this same problem, with nvidia card, and white graphic overlay when AA is on. Will turning AA on from Nvidia control panel fix it? It is definitely the AA causing it, cause glitches go away when i turn it back off. Originally Posted by Exploding_Silver
